OMG my body is so out of shape (well, round is a shape, but not one I want to be anymore, lol).

So M-W-F, I do arm toning with the new weights. 5lb dumbbell arm curls (I think that's what they are called) and the one where you hold the dumbbell with both hands and raise it above your head............. people who do lifting, please correct my terminology, or lack thereof. I do these 5 lifts/3 reps for each, 3x a day.

On T-T-S, I do 10mins on my bike (on the stand). I do this 3x a day. HOLY HANNAH! This is the one that hurts the most. First off my butt says GET OFF! Then my legs start burning. I tell my body, LOSE FAT or I'll do more, lol

We have about a km of trails on our property, so every day, hubby and I take a walk. Right now, we're only doing one lap, but we'll work our way up as the summer progresses.

I found this image on pinterest and thought it was cute. For me, I found once I'm passed that "I want to do it" step, I'm golden. SO, which step have you reached today? 😉

In no time, that weight will begin to feel light. I used to struggle lifting a 3kg (6.6 lb) dumbbell. It felt ridiculously heavy in October. Now I'm lighter, but able to lift free weights in the 5-8kg (11-17.6lbs) range depending on the exercise. Still a light weight, but stronger than I used to be.

Great post! Posts like this really help me figure out why I am not doing things that are good for me and encourage me to move forward. Thank you.😊 I'm all over that staircase. Consistency is my goal. 👍

Yaasss I love hearing about people increasing movement, especially when it involves other folks. Those km walks are a great way to get some couples time ❤❤. Love that you have the alternating workout days. I'd suggest warming up & cooling down even with the weights. (Esp with the weights!) I've sprained and strained all sorts when I haven't done the w&c. But girl, I'm so stoked for you. That hot bod is going to get strong! 💪 🥳 PS: Private property, eh? Are there any areas you two can scootch off to smooch out (on your walks)?

Also, that pic is awesome. It's an adaptation of the Stages of Change model. People give me flack for getting technical (yeah I'm a nerd & proud of it) (sometimes). It's a good opportunity to see that you are on the right path, and a path that others have travelled too. We can slip back and forth, and can get stuck at times. This is all normal. You keep on keeping on slaying your health challenges, missy ❤

Thanks LC. The set goes up to 52.5lbs, but I doubt I'll ever do that... I don't want to look like Arnie, lol.

Thanks cc, consistency is a constant issue with me too.

V, you kill me, lol. Don't give hubby any more ideas. As it is, the trail is up and down all over the place, and in the up portions, he always grabs my ass. I'm sure my screeches can be heard in town, lol. I always warm up, I've done damage to my back when I was younger, so I'm beyond careful now. BTW, nerd on. 😊

@lchfjo Glad you get me 🤣 But I'm also a little worried you get me. I'm a nerd, and twisted, weird. You, my dear FS sister, might need to get checked out by a professional 🧠🤯 I love seeing longterm couples have fun with each other. I see a lot of couples losing the playfulness... I get that life is nuts, busy, lots of pressures, priorities change, etc. But the playfulness is nice to see.

Haha, Jo, I doubt you would end up looking like him even if you eventually lifted that weight. Building even a bit of muscle takes time.

LOL V, you just described me... 75% psychotic, 25% neurotic, lol. We're both insane and embarrass the kids like crazy, lol

Good to know LC. I've actually never lifted weights before... other than my kiddos and a lot of potatoes, back in the day, lol

weightlifting is great for losing weight if you do enough reps until the pain is uncomfortable. then the muscle takes more energy in for about a week. my experience at least.

Awesome! Unfortunately I don’t lift weights but since starting my journey with the fat secret I have lost 8 pounds in six weeks. I have 5 pounds to go and the only exercise I do is trying to walk every day weather permitting. 😊 I must admit the weekends are a bit difficult as I love having a few glasses of 🍷 Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Which always brings up my calorie count. Congratulations on your journey you are doing fabulous 😊

i stuck on the I DON'T FEEL LIKE/WANT TO DO IT step 😒

@Brian, I'm not doing weights to lose weight, just to tone the flab. But good to know it works.
16 Apr 21 by member: CarbAbuser
Hahaha Tor, thought you'd like that one. @Plynn, thanks. I had a lot of weight to lose, and now I'm trying to limit the flab and saggy skin. Dunno if this will do much at my age, but it's worth a shot.
