Joelmel's Journal, 05 Jan 14

It is going to be a challenge for me to keep my carbs super low due a protein shake prescribed by my doctor which has 20 net carbs / serving and I have two servings per day.
I'm doing the Low Carb - High (Natural) Fat LifeStyle! challenge for 12 weeks and I'm going to set my personal net carb goal for 65 g/day which is considerably higher than the challenge's goal of 25 g/day. I'm pretty confident it will work. Previously when I've watched net carbs, the weight came off as long as I kept it below 100 net carbs / day.

I agree! I have simply cut out sugar and breads/pasta/rice/potatoes and only have fruit occasionally, and I lose generally almost 1/4 pound a day! I don't count carbs, so as long as I steer clear of those no-no items, its golden!

Thing I find is that if I keep the carbs down I keep the cravings at bay and I need that because I give into the cravings too easily.

16g fructose and they market it for management of metabolic syndrome?! The micronutrients look good, but I'd rather buy the protein powders, mix my own w/stevia, and pop a multivitamin. I don't see anything magic in there. Potassium is not available OTC here in cost-effective doses, but I picked up a bag of potassium citrate on Ebay, and just weigh it out into a water bottle every morning. Magnesium is OTC, and I do almond milk for calcium. I've been below 20g net carbs/day for 2 months, losing like mad, but the cramps almost ended it before I got those micros sorted out. That's just my experience, though. Good luck.
