Not really five guys grilled cheese which is what I used for calories. It is jallah bread in egg wash with gruyere and mozzarella. Yum.

Thanks carol. I wish it were better. I’d rather we didn’t do it in egg wash as it took out the overall crispiness. Always recommend using butter or Mayo.

thanks all ... if you like french toast, this is the way to do your grilled cheese ... but it was not as good as it looked ... the cheese was, yes! but i did not finish mine, mouth feel and the egg-y interruption to what should have been a delicious gruyere/mozza grilled cheese did not save it. and, yes, wifey, we would always use butter on the outside of grilled cheese for the grilling, but then read about using mayo (not a low fat version, etc.) and tried it - and it was amazingly delicious. try and compare. either works for me - but not egg wash!

I made THOUSANDS of grilled cheese sandwiches for my children and their friends when they were growing up, and I agree, butter is the thing. Mayonnaise sounds interesting though.
