FullaBella's Journal, 16 Oct 13

Wednesday and the rain continues. Thank you again for the kind and supporting comments yesterday. You folks are the icon for unconditional friendship; you accept and encourage me and lift my spirits.

For clarity - and no, this isn't a 'I can quit anytime' denial - the RX I'm on does not zone me out, make me not feel, leave me fuzzy or numb or any of those other bad side effects as some mentioned. I do know what you're talking about because I did experience that when I took another RX a few years ago; it was like looking at the world through a wall of glass or trying to touch my life covered in vaseline. I hated it.

This one just totally evens everything out - I don't find myself screaming into towels in the laundry room or considering a string of options that end with the suffix 'cide'. Nor do I approach the day ala Mary Poppins. And I guess because of that I concluded the 'nothing really noticeable, I must be getting better and don't need it right now' action. I may have been right, I may have been wrong. I'll evaluate it again in 90 days.

Here's something I haven't recorded since May 24th: I walked on the treadmill this morning. In case you think I'm having a Rainman moment, 'Duh, duh, definitely May 24th' ... don't. I was thinking this morning, 'wouldn't it be great if you could just do a word search in FS to find a certain phrase or comment in your journal' then I remembered 'oh, yeah, Google is already mining that for me.' So if you ever wonder such a thing yourself 'what day did I record that?' just google your FS name and the word.

But yep, still raining outside too much to even duck under the umbrella so I escaped to my makeshift project & gymnasium room and climbed back on the old treadmill. I was amazed and pleased to realize that 4mph is just a nice brisk gait for me now. When I first bought that machine last December I would get winded and exhausted at 2mph. Half an hour and 2 miles later I did another 15 minutes on the gazelle and then just freelance danced for a while. I even got a little 'sweat on' and that's rare for me.

Food? Well, finally ate spareribs, pasta salad and baked beans around 2pm yesterday - first meal all day so I guess that would count as an IF day if I didn't exceed 500 calories but I know I did. Dinner was grapefruit and boiled eggs. Yogurt with chia seeds and a handful of pistachios for a snack.

Then the night stalker showed up and growled 'Feed Me!' just as I was on my way to bed so I had pork roast sandwich and a bite of pumpkin cake roll with milk. Waking with a slight acid reflux for the first time in almost a year served as a good reminder of why we don't do that anymore.

I've been having a 'which came first, the eggs or the shells I've been walking on' week. Omlet Monday night; boiled last night, poached this morning. So in honor of all the chicken metaphors I'm roasting a hen on a spit in the toaster oven today. Best go check it and make sure my makeshift 'ties' are still holding. This is my first adventure in chicken spit roasting so 'cooking twine' has been added to the grocery list.

Final thought before I go. I just created my own 'self challenge'. Every time I walk to the market I will continue to leave the 'change' in the zipped pocket of my canvas shopping bag. At the end of the month I will use that to pay for a soon to be designated reward. My own 'cash reward' kind of system.

But in the spirit of challenges here on FS, I do appreciate the invites and thank you for those of you who don't criticize me for joining but not posting or responding to posts on them. I often read them for the inspiration but that's later in the evening and I am limited to input on my kindle keyboard. I've offered to leave challenges in the past for concern I was pulling down the stats and was told 'we don't worry about stats'. But, if I am pulling them down on current challenges .. please feel free to PM me and I will leave the challenge.

Well, better go check to see if Chicken Little is still clinging to the spit. Hope all my friends are having a good day.

Bells

Glad to hear you're doing alright and damn you must be an awesome cook! You must enjoy cooking. I for one do it because I have a family and want them to eat healthy most of the time, but I don't enjoy buying it, preparing it, cooking it, and cleaning it all up afterwards. I just do it. I wish I could get joy out of it and I'm pretty good at it, but it's just not my thing. Good on you for getting your sweat on today! I'm about to do the same on my treadmill. Enjoy your little hen...bye for now!

Great job on the treadmill! Pleased to hear that you are in such better shape now and can handle a faster pace! I think your Market Challenge sounds like a great idea, and your roasted chicken sounds delicious, I'm sure it smells so good!

Yes, you do sound better & obviously made the right call on the meds, Angel. I'd been wondering about the treadmill, but know you are walking more on your trips to the market. Good for you for seeking it out -- sounds like a good getaway! Xoxox
