kitty-eared-girl's Journal, 12 Aug 20

My husband had me laughing this morning. He's a big guy, 6'2" and 330 lbs at his heaviest weight, with some of it being muscle in his arms and legs. He popped his head into my office this morning to discuss our bathroom scale and how he was wondering if we should change the batteries because he wasn't sure it was accurate. When I asked why, he said it was because he weighed 280 this morning.

I understand the concern and how digital scales can slowly start to run inaccurately as the batteries wear down, but both his mother and myself have mentioned to him the visible weight loss (that, and I've complimented him on the fact that his snoring is almost non-existent now, when it used to get so bad occasionally that I'd wind up sleeping in the guest room). For those interested, the batteries were changed within the last few months, and I (think) we have back-up batteries in the linen closet.

As for me, I'm down 6.4 pounds since the start of March (using that as my point of reference because that was when the COVID lockdowns started locally), a little more than a pound a month. While it's not as quick as it could be, I've been able to keep it off so far, and it's still a drop. Additionally, I'm three pounds less now than I was at my wedding almost three years ago, so I'll take it!

To be honest, I was deathly afraid when the lockdowns started that I would balloon up again from emotional eating, and I'm wondering now if that fear has been keeping me in line.

Happy Wednesday, FS.

Slow and steady is important because it let's us re-set our relationship with food and allows us to focus on real change rather than quick losses. Congrats on the loss!
