You cannot out exercise a not so great diet and frequent “cheats”. The two, diet and exercise, have to go hand in hand. Life happens, shit happens and as soon as you STOP the frantic exercise you quickly pack on the pounds yet again because you have not made portion control, moderation and self control a permanent part of your life, just like breathing. Most of us will probably put on a few pounds over the next few months, but those who are already talking 20-30 pounds might want to consider the sustainability of their weight control plan.

I love using DASH serving sizes for that reason and hand method. I have actually lost 5 lbs while on lock down. I think because I can also make lunch and breakfast at home and eat out less since no social events and restaurants are closed.

So true. Whatever your eating plan is it needs to be sustainable and not a "diet" with an end. This is a lifelong journey Make it so it fits your life and you can live it healthier.

man this is so true I've been trying to out exercise my bad diet over the past few months with gaining 8 pounds I'm pissed but my own fault I know I need to cut out the sweets a big weakness but I know it works cause the first year of my weight loss without sugar I lost 25 pounds then slowly another 20 to only gain back 8 since thanksgiving it just never stopped after the holidays idk where my willpower went could be added stress in my life ugh I really do need to stop I'll throw out the junk food then couple days later going and getting more I'm not happy seeing my abs disappear that I worked so hard for the past 2 1/2 years and now missing my gym sucks

Possibly True! But I’ve lost recently via lifting daily on an increased calorie intake. BUT, my experience tells me drastic calories taken in can quickly overload benefits of exercise

You just need to be on target calorie wise.

People have gained 20# already? Yikes! I must have missed those posts. I don't understand why anyone would want to knowingly become unhealthier right now.

True emotional eating and mindless calories are tough habits to break especially nowadays, it surely can be done.

And that is the essence of the problem Diablo. Many people are doing insane amount of exercise to offset their eating habits. When life Interferes, gyms are closed, winter snow, whatever, the calorie burn diminishes but the inability to control consumption of calorie dense, high carb and/or high fat remains. Especially now when really high grade nutrition is so important, I constantly see people in the stores with carts loaded with nothing but chips, cookies and other things that are basically nutritional deserts.

The problem is being on target calorie wise? How is that? I'm not seeing insane amounts of exercise from anyone on here. Admittedly, I am not spending as much time on here as in the past. My 1-2 hours of lifting has turned into 30 min of calisthenics. I just adjusted calories in response and have lost another 5 pounds since this started.

I do agree if that is the case though. We need to learn moderation without the need for unsustainable exercise.
