For all of you parents out there —- what is happening now is such an historic event— a story that will be told over and over for generations. This would be a wonderful opportunity to give your kids and yourselves an outlet for their anger, fear and frustrations. Each of you start a journal and record the events as they have unfolded up to now. What you heard, what was true, about the grocery store and TP crisis, about social distancing etc. as everyone here on FS can attest, journaling is so therapeutic. Your kids need this, to be able to express their anxiety. They also are going to be exposed to people in their world not surviving this event— help them now or they will be going into the future with all the things many of you claim have caused your lifetime obesity; traumatic childhoods, binging, PTST, and depression issues. Her is a chance to help them cope in a healthier manner. The best thing you can do is talk to them, be as hones and supportive as you can. Put some tools in their toolbox so they can have a healthy mental future.
