Yay, a loss! Just like after Christmas, I spend a few days at my mom's place. And also at the hospital waiting for my sister to be transferred to her room after her surgery. So I did not eat as much as at home, because outside I am much more of a picky eater!

My sister's surgery went very well. The hospital staff was super nice and polite to her. They were able to remove more fibroids than expected and they were even able to do a horizontal incision! My sister is really happy about this one. She only slept the night at the hospital and she was released the next day. This is great news because she will be able to spend more time recovering at home. I could not stay very long because I had to go back to work.

My own myomectomy was almost 6 years ago, not at the same hospital. The staff was nice too, but a few not so much, and one was particularly rude. The doctor initially pushed for a hysterectomy, but I insisted for a myomectomy. She only removed 3 fibroids (a more experienced doctor could have removed more) with a vertical incision (easier for doctors but apparently tougher on patients), but at least I bought some time before the worsening of my symptoms. I lost a lot of blood, so I had to get a blood transfusion and stay at least 3 days at the hospital! I did recover well, though.

My blood pressure has kept on going up, especially the systolic number. It was high all this week. At least the diastolic remained at normal levels. Thankfully, I was able to get quickly a last-minute appointment with my family doctor due to a cancellation. I showed her my numbers. She was not fazed at all and recommended that I continue with my current medication. At least I don't need to take a 3rd drug yet! Later today and tomorrow a snowstorm is supposed to hit my area, so more exercise for me! Hopefully this will affect positively my blood pressure.

This morning, my blood pressure was a bit lower (I took it twice). I also decided to test my fasting blood sugar -- for once, it was below 5 mmol/L (below 90 mg/dL). Usually it is over 5, so I am happy.

I am also happy because I was able to contact a radiology clinic that is with a Montreal-area hospital. I inquired about being assessed for eligibility for uterine fibroid embolization; they told me to have my family doctor fax them an assessment request. So my doctor prepared the request with some old ultrasound results so that a receptionist can fax it. I hope that I won't get rejected on the basis of my old tests (just like the private clinic gynecologist did), so I'll wait and see.

Sorry again for that long novel. Have a nice weekend everyone!

Glad to hear things went well. Hope you can get the procedure done. It is OK here. We had a super cold week but slightly better today. I plan on walking outside a bit
