Long article but worth the read. Title is slightly deceptive, but stick with it.

I'll just stick with this: 4. Cardio Is Unbelievably Boring

Great post! I would probably agree that cardio is not necessary, but I have always enjoyed walking and doing it on a beach with my two dogs was the best thing! Sadly only one left now and she's enjoying short walks and jogs with us multiple times a week in her old age and I'm really grateful for this time with her. I do still try to do resistance training at least three times a week and hope to continue for life. To each their own though.

Depends on what kind of cardio you are doing. I hike the hills above the area I live with the Sierra Club every month at the full moon and sit and drink hot cocoa. I play volleyball at the beach once in a while with a bunch that are much younger than I am. Long beach hikes— great for your legs. I walk with my14 year old friend at a very fast pace when I fill in for her mom when she trains for marathons. You make your cardio fun and it is not boring at all and I get to spend time with the people I care about. Cardio and resistance tracing is a great duo.

I was researching toning (the “outcome” of cardio) and it really doesn’t fit. Toning is fat loss, strength training provides the muscle gain for the results people really want from cardio.

Personally, I am looking for building and maintaining my muscles and don’t particularly enjoy being a Duracell bunny on a treadmill 🐰 I have a sedentary job that takes a lot of time and energy and tons of commuting. I am completely drained at the end of the week so I really appreciate my down time on my weekends. I don’t feel the need to be constantly on the move. It’s all about people and their temper I guess. I am a very private, quiet person, more into studying or learning new things than being into constant moving. So in my case I won’t trade one of my resistance workouts for any kind of cardio. Just not my stuff. Now if you guys have time and desire to jump or walk around on the top of your 3 lifting sessions, god bless you 😆
