Kenna Morton's Journal, 26 Dec 19

I have a young couple that live 2 doors down from me who are Chinese on his side and Philippine on her side so they eat some unusual mixes of foods. Tonight she brought me a “salad” that she had made for Christmas but it was more like a desert. Thick GREEN liquid (coconut milk?) with what I think or thought was jello but now I think was a fruit of some kind. It also had what I think were tapioca pearls and shredded real coconut. Don’t know exactly what it was but it was good and I ate the whole thing. I’m going to call it tapioca pudding for FS purposes. Close enough for government work.

Keyten— I found a video on how to make it. Yep, that’s it. I ate a whole cup of it but it was really good. Everyone brings me their wonderful cultural foods. Everything is always so good.

My condo is on a cul-de-sac— there are 8 of us. Indian with South African influence, Filipino and Chinese, a very elderly Vietnamese couple, another set of newly weds who are Vietnamese, Hispanic, and a young Muslim couple. We look after each other and share food and treats.

My wife is from the Philippines. I know the dish, but can't think of the name offhand. They have many wonderful dishes, and I sometimes feel like I've missed out all these years ...lol. And one great thing about their culture that I like is that when they extend dishes from their cuisine to you, it's not just courtesy, but a demonstration of high respect. Glad you enjoyed it!

My asian neighbors and friends are the best, also Mexican friends too. I get fed so well by them. I’m a happy cow around them. 😊 🐮

Maraming salamat, Keyten77! I sent you a message in your inbox. Have a great night! Kenna, glad you like the Philippine cuisine. It's really delicious ("masarap" in Tagalog). :)
