What would you suggest for something QUICK & EASY, napkin finger foods, that can withstand not being heated or refrigerated for about 5 hours? I know I could google or search the internet for this - but I'm interested in what y'all would recommend.

I'm setting up a refreshment table for a (friend's) retail shopping venue. Very small store, very casual event this Saturday. They aren't normally open Saturday - this is a holiday retail advertising (snack & shop) type thing. No wine this time so I'm going to set up a Keurig with a variety of choices between tea & coffee and all that goes with that and a bucket of bottled water.

I don't know who to expect or even how many. I'm conservatively estimating 15-20 max because it's not a highly advertised event. I could repeat some of the things that I did at the last hosting because I don't expect the same people.

Keep in mind the best thing I make is reservations.. haha. I'm may even wimp out & go for bakery cookies if I don't find my inspired motivation soon.

I was going to say definitely cookies with the coffee. Biscotti, mini toasts and nuts with raw honey.

JC - thanks. I am trying to talk myself back from the ledge. Part of me wants to go all out with some gourmet / pretty / chef type thing but the other part warns that I may be doing all this for nothing as they're relying on foot traffic & Facebook to bring the people in. I don't want to have to trash too much food (or even worse, eat them myself).

Fruit skewers on ice? Nuts, crackers, ahhhh I’m not one for appetizers. I like filling up on the real food LOLOL! 😋😋😋

Or maybe dried fruit? Energy bites would also work. Popcorn? Idk I think I’m awful at this. It’s been a while since I entertained really. Though I am the only mom that hosts a Christmas party every year. They all want to come here. 🤪🤦🏻‍♀️My kids invite their friends and I do the work, my kids help of course. Easy to please 17-22 year olds. They’re a great bunch, from many different countries. I’m glad though my crew is not as big as Melissa’s, she definitely gets the prize!!!! 🥰

Wifey - I like the 'mixed nuts' if I can find some pretty little red shot glass (disposable) size cups (because I can't imagine *I* am the only one with OCD to people touching my nuts.

Costco has cheese wrapped in meat that is good quality and inexpensive. Cut them in half or thirds, toss on a plate with some crackers or olives and you're good to go. Add toothpicks to emphasize snacking, not eating a meal.

Good luck with your refreshments. I imagine the more it resembles meal type food rather than snacks, the more likely plates will be filled like a meal.

I agree that public food displays are difficult. If you are going to just put it out there then a nice veggie platter, meat/cheese tray, &/or a cookie/muffin plate from your local grocery store would be easiest. I've hosted or catered many gatherings over the years. You already have plenty of suggestions. It all comes down to how much work are you willing to put in, and how much clean up are you going to have to contend with after it's over. If you're following a theme, it gets really difficult. Be careful what you serve, because whatever's on the customers fingers ends up on the merchandise, and that can be disastrous.

Great suggestions everyone - thank you all. I'm going to sort this all out to figure out what can be served with a toothpick already in it to keep the dirty finger touching merchandise risk to a minimum. Good reminder. Dry biscuit / biscotti. No plates at all as this is NOT a meal. That just reminded me to set the keurig to 4oz, haha. I'm a terrible hostess. "Eat, drink, & if you aren't buying.. get OUT." I may even cut the cocktail size napkins into 4 pieces .... I crack myself up.
