I made a comment on a post where the Glycemic index of foods was mentioned. — I’m going to repeat that same info here. Just because a food has a low glycemic index may not always mean that it is the better food choice the glycemic load of a food needs to be considered as well. Here is an article on that subject. It can have an implication for both diabetics and people trying to lose weight. I was asked for a source of a more comprehensive list of foods and their GI. If you GOOGLE you will find some pretty extensive lists— maybe a 100, but there are books that you can buy on Amazon that probably have many more. Within this article is a formula for converting the GI of a food to the GL . Not complicated. I am familiar enough with the concept that I don’t need to calculate it out very often and I am not the rigid in my WOE that it is necessary, but diabetics may find it useful. Nutrition is complicated. There is much more to it than just the big 3.
