How many of you have ever eaten rutabaga? A root vegetable— yes it does have carbs but it also has lots of fiber and lots of potassium. It is a powerhouse of nutrition. I like roasting it with other root vegetable or making a gratin with it. One of many, many foods available to us that would be of benefit for our overall health. Lots of sources on the net. You don’t have to necessarily read this one but check it out and see if this could be an addition to your healthier eating program. Remember that carbs are not the mortal enemy. Refined carbs are a problem. Portion control and moderation even with healthier food.

Grew up eating them with every Sunday dinner. Still eat it on a regular basis, add them to soups, stews, etc. Love it!

Probably five decades ago. But I remember it smelled between a turnip and cabbage. They were not a regular part of our garden. We did raise a lot of cabbage and turnips.

Tom Long— rutabaga is actual of the cabbage family. Thanks to my East Indian neighbor who has a masters degree in nutrition, a vegetarian and in her working years was a dietician, I have been introduced to many fruits and vegetables that were totally foreign to me. She has been great about pointing me in the direction of learning how to use food as enjoyment but also for its health and medicinal value. I have learned so much and reaped the benefits.
