Something that has been on my mind lately that most probably don't think about. Food weight. I recently as in this month started eating a lot more light non fat Greek yogurt. A serving is usually 350 grams. That only adds up to 200 calories but on the scale that is about 3/4 of a pound. Before bed I've been having over a pound of it lately. I am the same body weight that I was at the beginning of the month yet look leaner. I really think the Greek yogurt is making up for the fat loss on the scale. I used to eat a protein bar or 2 before bed. Even two only weigh maybe 80 grams. Huge difference. Has anyone else started eating something that may have caused a bump in weight? You ever wake up the next day after a binge lighter than the day before? It could be that the pop tarts, candy, and cereal were all a lot less food weight than you usually have. Fruit and Greek yogurt for example would be much heavier. Just a random thought before bed. Good night.

I’ve considered it but I don’t want to get obsessed with checking the weights of all my food and doing the calculations. I have the personality that would do that lol.

When I'm working 3rd shift I usually have 300g in the morning a couple hours before bed. Quantity and quality.

I just put down 375g 😄

I just had 601 grams and a fit crunch bar. 450 calories and 64 grams of protein. May have over done it.

@chris...maybe worth a try. Do you think waking up for protein is worth it? Seems like the sleep disruption would negate any positive results which I would think are minute at best. Haven't done research on it but seems like it wouldn't result in much of anything when you have to lose sleep over it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Diablo, examine.com did a whole study into protein, I posted in my journal the breakdown of the article. But one whole section was a study done about if there was a benefit to eating casein protein at bedtime. The summary said there wasn't any benefit of eating casein compared to whey. The reason being while casein protein takes longer to digest, the MPS (muscle protein synthesis) was the same for both whey and casein, both 3-4 hours. It was a very interesting read. Check it out.

I was going to ask if your wife is a light sleeper. I'd kill you.

I’m with Princess. In fact I wanna be there next time so I can smack you with a pillow and allow your poor wife some sleep lol.

I always keep plain Greek yogurt in my fridge, because I enjoy it a couple times a week. I'm just gonna jump on the daily train to see if I can reap the benefits of this super food. @keyten, thank you for all the info you posted earlier.

I'd be afraid to ruin my no cavity streak by downing a protein shake in the night, haha. DP, your sniffer is too sensitive, you wouldn't be able to handle a protein shake on the nightstand. Kennyn, thanks, I think I read that not so long ago but have forgotten, I blame Chris for talking about his pre-bed cottage cheese and Fruity Pebbles.
