me,myselfandi's Journal, 28 Aug 19

We had free food at work today which is always a big challenge for me.

I used to:
- Eat 3 large plates
- Pack up food for later under the pretense of getting some for a coworker.
- End up having 5,000 or 6,000 calories for the day (based on later estimates).

Today, I did fairly well:
- Ate 1 plate, albeit a large one, with 1 doughnut.
- Packed no food for later since I can afford my own dinner now.
- Had a small dinner an stayed just under my 2,500 calorie daily goal.

It was still REALLY stressful so I have a ways to go but I feel really good about how well I did and I didn't call out sick to avoid it. (I don't normally open up about my food challenges so please be gentle in the comments!)

I have been known in the past to schedule my personal appointments around lunchtime the days we do potluck at work. Or a make believe dr appointment for mid afternoon that requires fasting. Not all the time but sometimes there are just too many gatherings that involve food. An extended long meeting that involves a catered lunch break those are hard to avoid. No judgement on my part !

How could anyone be anything but impressed!?! Free food that tastes good would be a hug temptation for me, and you rocked the control.

That's awesome! I love that you didn't deprive yourself. And I love that you used to take some and pretend it was going to a coworker. LMAO- I used to order so much fast food that I'd get 2 drinks so the worker would think it was for 2 people and not just me. And that's my favorite kinda donut. Are we twins?

raeofsnshne- in hindsight just wasting more money. LOL- You know the workers didn't care. Either way they knew I was 300#'s. 😄

ABSOLUTELY! It's pretty silly looking back on it and remembering how much I cared what strangers thought.

We had food around at my work all the time. Great stuff for some people but not consistent with my goals. I would never go out to the store and buy some of that stuff so why would I eat it cold and soggy at work. My pat answer was “no thank you, I brought my lunch”. Free food is not really free if you get my drift.
