I love this picture!! Blow it up, frame it and put it on your wall! You are beautiful at 17 or at 71. BTW, I LOVE your lifelong dedication to the medical field. Thank you! also to KPWcalories: I know who Cherry Ames is!!! We may be the only two! I used to read all of her books I could and would discuss them in-depth with my aunt who was a nurse! What a blast from the past!

Thanks floridaga2000. It also still amazes me that I made the decision to be a nurse at such a young age and never looked back. There was never a day in my 44 years of working that I wasn’t excited to go to work. I was very blessed.

I sort of miss the look as well, but as technology quickly started moving forward and machinery and IV lines got more complicated the hats became a risk factor for catching on something pulling IV lines out. The white dresses just were not practical at all because we spend so much time bending, kneeling . Pants were much better. I only wore the hat maybe three years, the mandatory dresses went by the wayside mid 70’s. Scrubs are much more practical all the way around.
