It seems push mowing to Apple Watch is like cooking. Same calories expended 😲.

We’ve been waiting on mower parts for a month or more and I’d had enough. Got out my trusty push mower and mowed the front section between the house and vehicles. This took me a good hour. The space is approximately 25x50. I had to move hoses, pumpkin vines, a heavy iron and wood picnic table, dog chew bones and get close around and under several box bushes and rose bushes.

Right before that we unloaded a suburban full of garage sale totes, 2 of which I could barely carry, stacked it al in the barn, organized some of said barn, got out the bed frame and bunkie board then cleaned al that up. I burned like 15-20 kcal more those two hours than when I sat on my butt. I burned the same as when I cooked and ate dinner. ?? Gotta figure out how to set the workout app for things like mowing and moving boxes lol. Any techies have ideas? 😉

I'm not an Apple-anything fan. I just log stuff here. Seems to work for me. :)

I like Apple but it does seem like they could improve. I’ve added 20 minutes of mowing in here. Sparks people says 108 for me for an hour and 20 minutes here shows 95. It was an hour with all the moving stuff and an hour with moving boxes too. So I’ll believe it counted the moving boxes and not add that. Either way I look at it I’m down 30g protein and 700 kcal today. Just want to be as accurate as I can.

I use fitbit. When hubby mows, it says he was cycling! LOL Good luck

Lol. My 3PLUS lite would count a ton of movements for things like driving on bumpy roads but would miss steps for normal moderate walking lol. The watch seems fairly consistent with this app when I checked it awhile back. It just doesn’t have options like mowing, boating etc that I wish it had.

Another 'conspiracy' in my mind... I need a new mower for my tiny back yard; I generally just use the weed trimmer but that takes so much caution to not get too short. I have a push mower,no power period. I like it because it stands up to being out in the weather. I dislike it because it's old and dull. A new one is twice the cost of the electric. I feel like it should be less as there's no power. Time for my meds.

Watch last week (I use outdoor walk) recorded a higher cal count; 95 degrees, heat advisory, Humidity north of 70%, lost 3 pounds in an hour. Higher heart beat, higher calorie burn. Weather played a role. I just review the numbers periodically. I stopped wigging about CO a while ago. If I move, cool. If I run/jog/kayak/cycle/lift/swim cool.

Terra, I want to know within 100 kcal. With building muscle it’s hard to know if I’m 299 kcal over like I want if I don’t have a halfway accurate CO number. I do forget to stop the workout clock or start it late sometimes. I don’t ‘wig’ out over that anymore as it happens monthly or more lol. But usually just 5-15 minutes either way. BUT my workouts are 41-46 minutes long generally without mistakes on my part lol.

Bella, a no power mower wouldn’t work on our 4-5 acres. The electric ones I think are junk from what I’ve heard. I have 4 mowers in the pasture and they keep 2 acres eaten down :).
