Skin tags may be a pre diabetes sign too. They'll fall off in the reversal process.

my doc cleared me for pre diabetes but I suffer from darker skin at the bends like neck, elbows etc. I did notice it eased with weight loss which I'm sure eventually could've led to diabetes

That’s what led to the blood work and excessive skin tags. My now 19 year old daughter was never a big over the top eater. She ate all veggies. Blood sugars and dx from a physician is where you go

Thank you for sharing Kenna ❤️!! Every one is different. When people say they are “carb sensitive “ it’s real. It’s accepted in type I diabetes but not everyone is Informed of insulin resistance. @the more you know. And I’m not being negative because cocci and deficit and exercise are soooooo important.

I have to also say that my armpits have been dark since I was a child and elbows and knees. This wasn’t a big subject when I was a child who was a small baby in an incubator. I was a country girl and was always on the run. We moved to PA and I was big into softball and cheerleading, however, before that was when I put on 21 lbs in 3 weeks visiting my upstate NY family @ genetics and 🧬.

Remember, every symptom does not mean every person has a certain disease and conversely, just because someone is lacking a certain set of symptoms does not necessarily mean they are home free. This darkening of the skin is just one of several things that a person with a medical background or a person who is diabetes aware may see as a visual clue. Just as I can often look at peoples hands and tell whether they have liver disease. .

Absolutely, my daughter was diagnosed insulin resistant. She slept walked at night with big eyes, weight was all of a sudden huge in belly and face and arms. The moment she was put on Metformin she lost a ton of weight, stopped sleep walking and never got another skin tag.
