I have learned after starting here, I am carb sensitive. I was born 5lbs. Diabetes in the family. Weight gain. I put on 21 lbs as a child in a 3 week visit and I wasn’t eating all the time. I’m thankful as an adult I know what to eat( but only since joining here) but I also know what hypoglycemia feels like. It’s a balance. 😊

Jcmama777– in the USA, everyone’s family is riddled with type 2 diabetes. It’s mostly a disaster of our own making for the most part. Type 1 is a different story. There are genetics involved without question in the that situation and it requires each generation to eat a decent diet right out of the womb. But for people of past generations, they just didn’t have knowledge. Now we have access to knowledge galore and people need to see that they may have some disastrous family genetics and work to do all they can to not be another statistic. TV and magazines are full of diabetic information. We just have to pay attention. Time for people who are at high risk to begin a better education process for the next generation.

Exactly Kenna. When type I is diagnosed on both sides and a child is diagnosed on labs then the issue of carbs not being a factor goes out the window.

I meant that as a joke ;). Don’t want kids coming to FS but do think they need treats. My kids are thin and healthy but we do allow junk. Taking it away now as one isn’t eating meals but has room for junk after. They were allowed ONE junk snack a day. They can have another of fruit, toast, leftovers, sandwich etc. I do hand junk to my kids to keep it away from me but they stick to the one junk snack a day. They chose when to eat it. It’s in their junk drawer and I don’t take their stuff. They also have jerky, crackers and other things in the junk drawer. I learned not to put fruit in there! Oranges don’t last long in a drawer haha.

My oldest won’t eat veggies and he will only eat when hungry, my Neurotypical eats when he sees food and eats anything you give him 🥦

Does your wife have an issue with certain textures?
23 Jul 19 by member: rosio19
Sometimes it’s not the taste but the textures of certain food the issue
