I liked this info. It definitely defines the details. And I thought Cardio was everything, although it can help in some ways.

Moopy posted this some months ago. I remember discussing this with her. My objection was that research does not support the claim that for overweight and fat people cardio is insignificant as this seems to claim. This seems to come from a muscle building perspective more than from a lose your weight perspective.

Exact pyramid I use for fat loss, and boy does it work 😎

Weight training will always be better for fat loss because most people want to lose the fat for good. Muscle raises your natural metabolism and weight training overall burns just as many calories when you take in the post exercise oxygen consumption. As you gain strength the burn will be even higher since moving more weight requires more energy. Cardio is great but lifting is more of a permanent fix. As we age the more lean mass we lose, may as well fight against that loss to stay healthy and mobile for as long as possible. Your body composition is a measure of health and weight training is the key to improving it even at a higher bodyweight.

And calling it insignificant because it's at the top is being a little hasty. It made the top 5.

I just hate on cardio cause I’m trying to get the most bang for my buck, but cardio is not a waste of time 🙄

Many people support what they do like it is the only thing that matters but science is science and research is research.

And results are results ... you can’t deny true results

Lifting is in 3rd place and cardio in 5th. Not bad. No need to believe this chart makes it irrelevant. It is just least important, but still important as you will read on the right of the pyramid.

And this pyramid is based on science and research. Post your article saying that cardio is better than lifting. We're waiting.

I could do that but it is easy to just google for anyone who is really interested

For me, I enjoyed doing the weight training much more than the cardio so I stuck with 10 Min. on the Eliptical and 45 with weights. Dropped 20 lbs.,then I hit a plateau. My Dr. offered me a diet monitored by a Hosp. and Brown University in conjunction with Fat Secret. So far Ive lost 18 more. Yahooo!

Diablo360x, you thoroughly explained your point in your first post, above. However, the "We're waiting" addendum to your last post in this thread was, IMHO, unnecessary and unnecessarily snarky. Some may characterize it differently but still negatively. You are who you are and will express yourself as you please, but some of us will still respond unfavorably, and that undermines the effectiveness of your message.

And it's distracting!

Needs of people who are at normal weight may be different. And a lot of research is being done on people of normal weight. So for actual fat loss you have to look for studies on people who were obese or at least fat to see what the effectiveness was. I am not knocking lifting. I do a lot of that sort of thing myself. I just have a bit of issue with this claim made by the pyramid.

Most people don't do cardio intense enough to overcome bad eating habits. That's one reason lifting will assist fat loss much better.

And the ones that miss out is the ones that like to be pampered, cause obviously many respond to our message 😎

Are * 😬

Wait, many people that are lighter than me have more fat....rolls popping out here and there . two bodies that are 120lbs but differ in type of exercise have way different body composition

Can I ask....who has done ANY cardio today? Who has lifted today? How many of your slept in last 24 hours? Why are people so stuck? Is it the Shape?

I mean, of those who have responded.
