HCB's Journal, 08 Jan 13

I am pushing myself along - and it is hard. Today was the first time I had to log a true gain.

Usually, if I pop up a bit on the "Idiot Box" I know it is a temporary moment and I log staying the same - and sure enough the next week, I have a good loss.

Not this time, though! This is a REAL gain from holiday eating that did not pop back down as usual...so, I had to bite the bullet and log the gain.

It feels like I failed.

Still grateful for:

- The people I love who love me back!
- The good health of my loved ones
- My FS Buddies who support and encourage me to continue
- "Butt-kicking" myself to a smaller size today

YOU DID NOT FAIL...we are all human and our weight will fluctuate. That "idiot box" is not the measure of success or failure, but I sure know how you feel. That little bounce will be gone before you know it, and the blue line will start to trend back down. Have a wonderful Tuesday! :)

OHHHH HCB - you certainly did not fail !! Take another look at your graph and remind yourself how awesome you are, (no one's graph looks like yours-) it is all losses, and this is just a temporary blip. Keep up the good work and don't let this discourage you from all your fantastic work. We will get through the January blahs- the days are getting longer and sunshine is on the horizon :)

I feel like I failed over the holidays too...but instead of looking at it as failure, I'm trying to learn from my mistakes and move on, better than ever. I think you are ready to do that too! Lets finish this in 2013.

There's no failure here. The holidays and all that good eating messes with us all. Don't fight it, accept it and press on! Just work a little bit harder to make up for the lost ground ;D

Its only a failure if you don't learn from it and change your ways. This is just a little blip in the total journey.

Dont beat yourself up for that over the holidays kid, it happens. I would trade you my 10 for your 3 any day, lol. And yes, that is not a failure, it happens to everyone. You are awesome and a positive inspiration. Did you see my new kitten pictures? That will cheer you up!

I feel like I fail every day. Actually I DO fail everyday, at one thing or another. Its about acknowledging and celebrating the successes... Having more successes than failures!

You did not fail...your subconscious just decided you needed a bigger challenge. Your subconscious also thought you were doing so well and it did not want your ego to get to big! I say: you rock! 3 lbs over the holiday’s is rockin’!

Hey - it is only 3 pounds! We are in this for the long haul. With you being back on track you know that will be gone in a blink of an eye.

Considering the length of time between your weigh ins, I wouldn't let the gain mess with your head too much. Yes, it sucks to record a gain but, if you're anything like me, I'm sure you'll agree that it would have been worse if you hadn't been making an effort to make healthy choices when you could. My Decembers used to be the start of the winter weight gain and heralded the need to bring out the big, loose sweaters and stretchy pants. Just look at how different this year is from years past. Success is all in how we look at the situation :)

I agree with Newmooney...your chart is amazing and inspiring. We all have plateaus and set backs. Just need to pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get going again. Good luck!

ok - like I put on my journal earlier - if it went past my mouth, I ate it!! lol - I haven't recorded my weight for a week or so, because of the *I failed* mentality - but we DIDN'T fail! it's just a temporary "I lost my sanity over the Holidays, but it's back now, so we suck it up and get back on it" thing, right?? right!! You are STILL doing amazing...You and djburney are my inspiration! as of today, I'm pushing myself in my water consumption, and getting back on the program - my goal of 180 is (hopefully) just my first goal, but also something that I hope to hit and pass by the time my daughter's wedding rolls around in July. WE CAN DO THIS, AND WE WILL!!!

I fail all the time. I have a t-shirt that says I'm a miserable failure. You'll get back at it soon enough.

Hey Hcb, it has been holidays time for all of us. I am in your same shoes, since I gained 5/6lbs in 3 weeks. Don't blame yourself! The good thing of Xmas time, is that it happens only once a year. Let's get back on track, and in a few weeks we'll be back to our pre-holidays weight. A big hug!

Girl you have not failed..look at what you have done already...We all gain at one time or another...You are being too hard on your self..be nice...to YOU...:O)

You've already named it the idiot box - that tells most of it right there. Be kinder to yourself and move on.

There is no failure, the big picture is that you faced difficulties and holidays all at the same time. Now however you are re-establishing your routines and that idiot box will be kicked hard and the numbers will be back down. Sooo failure NO! Set back YES! But you my dear HCB will not let this stop you!!

don't perceive it as a failure!!!! just a minor hiccup in your overall goals! :) trust me, I had to face the same thing when I realized I had gained back all of the 15 lbs the first half of 2012. But guess what?! We're gonna stay strong, focus forward, and get it done! :) Have a GREAT wednesday! ;)

WOW - Thank you ALL for the kind words and support!

Everyone is so right -- we are so hard on ourselves! This too shall pass & those idiot numbers will be going down again before you know it. Hang in there & know we're all here for you!
