This is beautiful and sooo true. I spent a LOT of time with health care workers both in my own profession and with my late husband due to his ten year plus critical illness. It was evident who had unfortunately absorbed the illness aura from their patients vs those who'd been able to stay grounded. Daunting profession to deal with it day in and out.

I’m very lucky. I was just 16 when I left for nursing school. That naive, sheltered kid from Anaheim didn’t last long. I quickly figured out that caring for and about your patients could quickly take you down if you didn’t figure out how to balance your needs VS the worlds. I managed and had 44 fabulous years doing something that I loved so much.
