abbadabba's Journal, 25 Jun 10

My younger daughter and I have set a date to visit my older daughter who is living with her grandma at the beach - Martha's Vineyard off Massachusetts to those nosy couple of buddies who wanted to know!

We will go on a Sunday and then come home on Tuesday - not the 4th of July though! The traffic that weekend will be brutal I am sure!

Two days isn't a long time, but then I'll have a night at home. We're just relaxing these days, slowly getting all her ducks in a row for college in the fall! We will go to Target for some bedding, maybe get her a little fridge, maybe a microwave. Depends on what her roomie will have too - my older one's roommate had a TV! Not that they need one, what with the Internet access these days.

I think I am doing ok with eating, just doing really badly with journaling! My friend says we'll go to Weight Watchers, but then I have been stalling to actually agree on a date! I think I need more sleep - or less sleep - or an air conditioner. Weather this week has been in the 90's during the day! 80's at night and about 78 percent humidity - talk about sticky! I AM glad I am not working days - oh, that would be so much worse!

This week I heard about two other people who are getting divorced. It must be in the water! Well, we are all of a certain age, I guess, and living the same kind of life, with kids - one was the wife said "the end!" and the other the husband left. Neither way is great, let me tell you!

Last weekend I had a conversation with my ex and it was pleasant. We are trying to be friendly, neighborly, but not too intimate - it's weird. Like we had amnesia but we were told we knew each other. I find it hard to let go of the part of me that wants to know his opinion of what I am doing or what I am planning. Later he sent me an email about Father's day messages from our daughters - they are very cute, my girls, and they do love their dad.

Hi How nice to be going to the beach. It sounds like a great place to relax. Great journal entry. I'm glad I didn't ask where you were going. lol

LOL about nosy buddies ... too funny!!! I think it is very nice that the girls love their dad and you support that. A lot of divorcing folks put their kids in the middle. Good for you for not doing that. Glad you are doing well with food ... who cares about the journal? Except of course your nosy buddies!! LOL!! Must get off to my class ... after all they are paying me to learn something not just lounge around in my room, chatting with my buddies and watching TV!!

Oh, I hope no one was upset by the comment about "nosy" questions! I consider myself quite a voyeur which is french for "way too nosy" so I know I ask those questions myself.

I guess I was the nosy buddy. Sorry. I was just interested in where by the ocean you were going. I'm in Florida, surrounded almost by ocean. Sorry again, lesson learned. Hope you enjoy the vacation and get some well deserved rest.

abba divorce is so hard on the kids, but speaking as a child who's parents never did seperate, i wish they would have, for us kids, instead of staying together for us. things will work out for you- you are moving along well through all of this;)
