Carb-cycling: does it work? Click the link below to learn more about it.

Chris Powell recently presented his ideas about alternating low-carb and high-carb eating days on the Dr. Oz show.

He believes high-carb days should include: high complex carbs, protein, veggies, and NO/LOW fats

Low-carb days should include: proteins, healthy fats, veggies, and NO/LOW carbs

He also encourages eating five times a day to keep the metabolism stoked and burning fat. He also believes alternating carb intake levels will help reduce or eliminate carb cravings.

I would love to know if anyone has tried Mr. Powell's plan and whether it has been successful

I tried it for two days but found I was eating way more carbs than I normally - didn't realize that I already eat pretty low carb naturally, I guess! As a result, I felt more cravings than usual so I stopped. But that was only after two days. A longer stint might have worked.

Are you going to try it, HCB? What do you think? I have heard it's pretty effective, but I've never tried it. My best results were with consistency (although these days consistency is harder). Have a great day.

HCB I think you have to keep on the path you are on now if it is working. The high carb days might cause cravings during the week. Eating should be simple. Up to you. Some of these plans look like a good way to eat things if you are starting to feel deprived of stuff you quit eating before all your weight loss. There is a reason you stopped eating all that stuff. Just be smart and think of your previous eating pattern. IS this right for you? ;)

I know people that have had alot of success on it but it's not for me. A couple of days def create cravings that I really have to work to break. I find ust eating healthy and minimal complex carbs and sugar works for me. Weight drop or not it's when I feel my best. Plus the keeping tract of which was what day would drive me batty ;-), but that's just me lol.

LOL - Thanks Buddies! I really was not considering it - but curious what you folks had heard about it, and whether anyone had tried it! I love how you all wanted to protect me!

Just saw these posts -- I'd seen that Dr Oz episode too & was so curious about it. Great feedback from your buddies, HCB. Also realizing if you watch Dr Oz enough, there's always another "amazing" diet approach! Guessing the idea is for each of us to find the approach that works for us (sounds so easy, doesn't it?!?)
