Kenna Morton's Journal, 25 Feb 19

Dinner tonight was Another great American short story— fiction, . pot roast with mashed potatoes and homemade mushroom gravy. Homemade red lobster cheddar cheese biscuits, homemade kumquat marmalade and a tomato, avocado, lettuce and red onion salad. Really good. The food database just doesn’t work. I did my best quess just to have a ballpark. The values turned out to be close to what I expected so I’ll take it. I’m considering not logging dinners. Just too labor intensive and soo not accurate. I’m just going to make up a number based on experience and record it in the journal.

If you enter the recipes into your cookbook it makes it easier to know what's what. Even meals out, if you find a recipe that's close, can be entered if you eat it often. I have to do this all the time when I eat out at restaurants here in Mexico.

I am a seat of the pants cook most of the time— a little of this, a lot of that, some left over that isn’t quite moldy. I’ve been playing with this for a year and dinner meals are just almost impossible. Plus many of the things I use aren’t even in the database. Not to even mention that a LOT of the stuff in the data base is just plain wrong .im just going to give myself a thumbs up Or a thumbs down and write what I ate just so I know. This may not work out well either, but going to give it a try. Like today I ate about 1/3.of a chili relleno burrito that I bought at a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant. Could not even come close to what it actually had in it (very good BTW) the thing was 12-14 inches long. I had just ordered a single relleno butt he waiter thought I had ordered the burrito version. Just tossed the rest.
