There has been a fair amount of chatter.on FS related to vitamins, supplements and magic pills as well as a few questions.. Many fruits, vegetables and herbs contain substances that have significant medicinal benefit for blood pressure, Blood sugar, as antifumgals, antivirals and antimicrobials. Many herbs that are used as companion treatments in cancer therapy, heart disease, depression, mental illness and so many others. Manufactured supplements are not regulated as a medication. They are treated as of food substances .you do have to be careful. Just because they are sold over the counter does not mean that they cannot have serious side effects or interactions or that they are effective at all.. There are multiple nutritional databases out there that not only will provide information on what is in a product but it will give it an effectiveness rating for what it’s claim is. I use a professional version of the National Medicines Database for which I pay a subscription, but there are others that are free. It is worth looking at some of these things to see if they have any real benefit for the condition for which you are using it. Many vitamins are essentially destroyed in the manufacturing process, or the manufacturer doesn’t even use that part of the plant that carries the beneficial substance (the root vs the flower or they grind up the whole thing).. or simply Google the latest and greatest item being advertised and read what the various review sites have to say. After doing that a few times, you will begin to get a feel for reliable sites. Remember, KNOWLEDGE IS KING AND KNOWLEDGE IS POWER.
