BuffyBear's Journal, 04 Oct 12

Good morning!

Yesterday I ate my normal amount of calories (approx 1400) due to nuts again - dang things! But I can go back to the diary of those accidental low cal days to get some ideas, just in case I need to lower my RDI. The experiments continue!

Here is the link I told you about yesterday (Mom & Sandy). No comment because I haven't had time to read it yet.
Fact Checkers

Actually I'm not planning on making any political statements, but I am thankful to live in a country where things like last night's debates are allowed. Let us never take our right to vote for granted.

Nuts sure do add up - a little handful is mega calories, but I think they are better than eating carbs. Everyone should vote - women died here for my right to vote, so it would be an insult to them if I didn't.

Those damn nuts--I can't stop eating them once I start- so I try and avoid them most of the time , but that doesn't always happen, just remember they are a better choice than alot of other things that you could be eating. Just read your post from yesterday and wanted to tell you to have a great celebration on the weekend - enjoy the occasion and get back to business next week:0) You only turn the big 60 once, so enjoy celebrating your hubby's B-day.

Like Newmooney said....and YOU'VE told me....there are a lot worse choices. I've been able to have nuts in the house (in addition to DH! ROFL!!!) and be OK, but I'm finding that I cannot have my nut butters in the house....can't even buy them. If they're in the house, I will eat them. Sad, but true. Good luck fighting the Nut Monster.

Tracy - I did not know that about England. Between the Queen and your first woman PM, I was thinking it all must have been easy.

NewMooney - Nuts are so tricky. I am a firm believer in having them because of the beneficial oils. I have been buy them in the 100 cal packs but when I have them in the office it is so hard to just eat the one packet.

I am a nutter -- LOVE them but I do have to be careful - the cocoa almonds I certainly buy in the 100 cal pack so I don't snarf down a whole bag in a sitting. Most days do include nuts and I also use Almond milk a lot. Get out and vote -- too important not too.

Sandy - Sounds like you have a good compromise (nuts but no nut butters). The nut Monster can be tamed. It must be tamed. It will be tamed.

Gigi - That is what I buy! Aren't they so good! But yesterday I forgot half of my lunch so I went back for a second pack. Then I went back for a spoon of peanut butter. Please know I brought lots more food with me this morning!

Howdy do, Miss Buffy! I know this sounds silly but you are allowed 20 nuts a day. Yep, you are. So go ahead and buy the LARGE size and count them out into little baggies. Take one baggie to work with you for your meal or snack. I eat nuts for lunch sometime. It is Primal and low carb. Win, win for me. But, that is me. Thanks for the web site. I will bookmark it. Hugs!

Mom - you are so right! As much as we may not want to hear it - learning "portion control" is a big part of the process.
