abbadabba's Journal, 28 May 10

Well, let me just say that I am looking forward to the weekend! I have limited my wallowing to a couple of minutes a day - once I have coffee I am just fine for most of the day.

Last winter I put in new mirrors in the bathrooms - the new ones are longer, so that more of me shows than my older antique cabinets showed. Gee, I am pretty fat, now that I can actually see my reflection from top to bottom!

I actually went food shopping, so that I can get some healthy food to eat for my snacking. And I got stuff I can measure and track so maybe I'll start losing again. I think I may be pulling up out of my slump.

Nights are ok once I get here - it's the starting that had been tough for me. I find that I have to insist on dinner with my daughters - otherwise I don't see them. One holes up in her room on the video games, while the other is off with her friends out somewhere.

It occurred to me I ought to go back to weight watchers - maybe find a group that meets in the afternoon and is on my side of town. My office mate tried to get a lunch time group going, but then everyone dropped out when they found out we had to pay up front. Sheesh.

Anyone have any great 200 calorie breakfasts that they like? I like the bars that I have but I don't think they are the healthiest things I can eat.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Steel cut oats are great and filling. I find they hold me until lunch. Also Quaker Oats has just come out with an instant oatmeal that is Whole Grain with 3 gr fiber that is pretty darn good and no fuss. Also a couple eggs with some vegges in it is low cal and will hold you too. I know what you mean about those mirrors. I have 4 set up where I exercise so I can make sure I am doing them right and they sure do show everything. lol Have a great day today. You are going through a bit of empty nest. I can relate although now that Ashley is home I have a few months that will be good because she actually likes to hang out with me so I plan on enjoying them until September when she goes back to school.

Glad to hear it feels like you may be pulling out of your slump!! You deserve to feel good about you ... all of you. Difficult with the challenges you've had this past year. Take care my friend!!

Mirrors are very important, it's good to look at oneself everyday carefully. You sound calm and relaxed, interesting about your daughters. I like fruit for breakfast with a little yogurt and/or cottage cheese. These days I like Trader Joe's Organic Strawberry Yogurt, and have switched from TJ's Cottage Cheese back to Knudsen's Low Fat Cottage Cheese (2%), since it has the most remarkable consistency which I am not sure I was ever aware of until now. :-) It may add up to a little more than 200 calories for you but it will make you feel good. Is that a new pic up there? I think you were an apple before weren't you? ;-) Anyway, you look great my dear! :-)

I'm with you abba, need this weekend badly. Now the trick is to be busy enough that my thoughts don't drift to food. Having a BBQ and they are always a challenge. Husband is going fishing tomorrow and if he catches a lot, we will have fish on the grill. If not I need a back up. Probably chicken. Trying to stay from ribs or beef. Well, whatever you do abba, have a good weekend and enjoy.

I love smoothies made with almond milk (40 cals per serving) a few ice cubes and whatever fruit I happen to have on hand (frozen berries are a low cal favorite). I also usually add a scoop of whey protein powder (70 cals) to keep me full until late morning/lunch
