I feel like I need to rant and I'll feel better. I was good over the holiday week (at least I thought). I did have around a 1/2 cup of frozen yogurt a few nights though. I was also sneaky and had a weight-watchers fudge bar one night. It's terrible, but I feel like I have to have something sweet each night. I don't eat sweets during the day, just at night (and I don't eat a lot of it). It sure showed today though. I'm up around two pounds. It is so discouraging when the scale goes up 2+ pounds. I can handle a pound because I know that most of it is water weight, but it still stinks. The scale is going the wrong way. I keep telling myself to keep going and stay strong, but some days I just want to eat eat eat. I've been on this journey for 2+ years now, and I just want it to be over. Sorry, I am a little down in the dumps today. Tomorrow will be better.

I’m right there with you! For about two years, I had no sweet tooth. Keto has been my friend since February. A few weeks ago I had a wonderful gelato, which I don’t regret at all. But since then my need for sweet had reared it’s ugly head! That was my sole motivation to restart my Keto lifestyle. I hated having that with me all the time! Same=with alcohol. I’m ok to have a sip if my husbands dinner wine, ( we drink wine with dinner always) then I won’t have any and doesn’t nag at me. But boy, one cocktail and the gates open. Do nothing more of that either, except my daily dip. I think that is part of the lifestyle change. Hmm, sorry this is so long!

I would of liked to try keto, but I found out a few months ago that I had high cholesterol. I did work at it and got it down so I don't have to take medication. I completely cut red meat out of my diet. Now I eat mostly chicken. The sweets are sooooo addicting.

I get like that too. Lately I've been making myself go without that late night snack, or I chew a piece of gum instead. Some nights it's not so hard, other nights I want to cry. But when I wake up in the morning, I'm jubilant that I didn't give in on the nights I succeed. Little by little I've been succeeding more and more. I soooooo get it. It's not easy. I'm here with you.

I like something sweet at night, too. I also have high cholesterol, so I have to choose wisely. I have my set calories for the day and I plan for X amount of calories at night for dessert. Sometimes it's a squirt of Smucker's hot fudge topping in a bowl that I just dip out with a finger! It's messy, but it takes some time and I get through the craving better than if I ate a small "fun" size chocolate (and there's nothing "fun" about little tiny bits of chocolate; chocolate is only fun in giant amounts). My point is to go ahead and have the treat, but plan for it so that you're not going over your RDI. Maybe take a short walk before you eat it, too. I walk the dog before I get my "treat".

If you can manage to detox from sugar (and it is so hard) your sugar cravings will stop. It’s getting there that’s tough, but so worth it to be free of that addiction. Good luck!

Oh yes - the only things that keep me away from chocolate cake is watermelon, or mandarin orange or Apple. It better be here or I just might mix up coco butter and powder sugar. Really! So keep that fresh fruit and space them out. I had grapefruit this morning, orange this afternoon and I see an apple in my future to keep the doctor away. Or if it’s not too hot, go for a short walk with your water bottle. If I’m doing a mile I leave the dog at home but if I’m tired and cranky and want chocolate cake - it’s me and the 7 pound Pomerania.... last time he got tired (little short legs) so I carried him home. Cheer up and remember- lots of water! I will be thinking of you...

Hey, pull yourself out of the dumps....we all have struggles, the key is to try and make this lifestyle change fun....sounds stupid I know, but I found that If I try things which seem to be less work and more advantageous in the end.....the journey is less problematic..... Here's wishing you a better day tomorrow !!!! And remember we all have our days, we just have to keep going....It is a change for life, not something you can achieve and then quit..... You need to change your thought process and realize the healthy lifestyle, eating habits, and results are forever...... NOW GET TO WORK AND STOP SOBBING !!!!! Just kidding with ya ..... I'm cheering for your success ;D

One last comment from me, if you crave something sweet at night, eat a piece of fruit, or protein shake with skim/non fat milk, or something fibrous with peanut butter.....it will satiate you most times til morning..... Good luck

You're eating mostly carbs during the day, I can see how you would have cravings later on. Don't beat yourself up over it but listen to your body and figure out what is causing you to need something later on in the night. For me it used to be wheat. If I had something with wheat in it (even soy sauce can have wheat in it) I had my head in the fridge a couple hours later looking for something sweet to eat to give me that rush. When I cut out breads, all breads, those cravings subsided. Maybe try to limit your carbs after a certain time at night like no carbs after 4 or 5 in the afternoon. You'll have to experiment but something is spiking your need for a carb rush

maybe its time for a paradigm shift. you mention wanting the journey to be over-its necessary to adapt a healthy eating outlook for life. you mention needing to eat something with sugar every night-sugar is not your friend. you have what it takes to kick the addiction. so many people are cheering for you, be your own cheerleader!

Im the same of a night, I think the comment about the carbs could be my problem as well, although I have reached my goal another couple of kgs would be nice.

I used to be the same way. When I get cravings I settle for fruit and after I did that for awhile the cravings stopped

I still haven't been able to shake the 2lbs I am up as well. I bought some fruit over the weekend, so hopefully that will curb the sweets cravings.
