The biggest, most filling meal I’ve had in a long time by far. 605 cal! It may be a bit more as I can’t figure out a formula for calculating oil absorption in a flour, milk and egg batter. Unfortunately I didn’t measure it before cooking so took a guess based on when I fried food for the family before and measured. I’m so stuffed and miserable.. it feels good! But I won’t make a habit of it or if eating fried foods again. My first try at chicken fried steak was a success! Next time I’ll cook mine in a separate pan so I can get a better idea on oil AND cut the steak in half. The thing was like 5oz and was one of the medium ones.

nothing wrong with eating fried foods I fry food all the time, just don't use flour. I know some use almond flour I make chicken parmesion with just parmesion cheese that I fry before I bake it. on keto we need the fat.

I pan- fry chicken breasts, pork chops and steaks occasionally. Oh and ham slices. I just use a bit of cooking spray or sometimes butter. This time I wanted a ‘real’ chicken fried steak and only have wheat flour on hand. Haven’t taken the time to relearn all my recipes with a different flour and hubby doesn’t like the expense of the different healthier options. So normally I just don’t use flour on my stuff ;).

That looks bomb. Roommate and i recently tried making chicken fried steak for the first time. It was very good! Did not make the cream gravy bc he doesn't like it and i was trying to slim it down but i would have loved it i am sure!

well remember if you are doing keto you need the fat, more fat and less carbs is a win win.

I have depression and anxiety so stress is a given until they work out a better dose for my meds lol. No Keto here as I can’t adhere to it. With health issues I don’t know how wise it would be either. I make gravy from a packet. More sodium but way less calories than making it with flour milk and lard lol. Brown gravy is less calories and my fav but he family wanted ‘traditional’ chicken fry so cream it was. Figured I could give them that and indulge a bit myself. It doesn’t seem to have made me gain and I had it for leftovers too. I think maybe because I’m not logging my extra activity like the machines at the gym. I don’t figure I’m doing enough to waste the time and log it lol. I’ve also increased my water from 0 to 20-40 ounces (still have coffee and tea but trying to slowly change some of that to straight water in hopes that it’ll help me).
