Kenna Morton's Journal, 11 May 18

This is going to be an exciting weekend. My young 12 year old friend, THE GENERAL, who took up running after she and her mother successfully lost lots of weight, is making a second attempt at running a marathon (26 miles). She made her first attempt in February but wisely stopped at 18 miles. She just wasn’t quite ready. She has trained so hard and she is so very determined. I hired a coach for her and he says she is ready. Crossing my fingers. This will be the last local race for her and her running Crew, THE GENERAL’S ARMY before she moves about 30 miles away. Her mom is getting married. The mom is going to run the 10 mile and the mom’s fiancé (we call him SARGENT) is going to run the marathon alongside THE GENERAL. I’ve known them for 4 years, since I helped them with their weight loss goals. I definitely was the winner in this relationship.
