This week I am logging in a respectable loss! I lost 1.6 pounds. Right in the zone of one to two pounds in a week. This is reversing my recent gaining cycle.

What is different? I was in town three times this week and ate out 5 meals. They were the identical meals - avocado toast with a poached egg and a turkey sandwich without mayo with a date square. My home meals were consistent and on time. Presently I am only expecting one town day next week.

Town days are tough mostly because they are often long and late. Leaving home at 6am and getting home as late as 7 pm. Then I am tired and hungry- a terrible combination! Or it means I have eaten 3 meals in town and that is really pushing the envelope! I have tried to deal with the situation by eating identical meals so less guess work and less impulse choices.

My Christmas list is wrapped up. All the gifts are wrapped that are at my house. The rest will come in the mail and I will wrap as they arrive. I am planning on getting my house ready in stages for company starting this upcoming week. It will be fun to have a houseful again.

I gained 1.8 pounds this past week. Certainly the 4 days that I was travelling and the eating out of all three meals had a lot to do with this gain. Last week when I had a similar schedule I gained 2.6 pounds so I can look at this week's gain as an improvement on last week's gain. However the goal is to lose weight and not to be gaining it!

This week I have two days in town which is much more sustainable. I will be out two evenings in addition to these two town days both of which have the potential to be eating extra. I will need to plan for that. I am also in a position to go swimming two times next week as I am in town on Wednesday and Friday. Morning swims are available Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

This past week has been incredibly busy! I ended up spending an extra day in Edmonton. My daughter and I filled the weekend with craft markets and thrifting. The days I was home were filled with home chores that kept me busy from 8am until after 6pm. Some tile repairs, a light repair and a septic alarm repair all got done. Deadbolts and a picnic table was fixed at my rental units. In town I got an oil change, pedicure, did a UPC stop and my father in law's. I have also been working on my Christmas list!

This isn't a surprise as I was in the city of Edmonton for 4 days home one day and in town for two more days. I have gained 2.6 pounds. I was at 4.6 pounds when I got home so I have dialed back two pounds.

I am leaving this morning for Edmonton this time it will be 3 days. I will be eating out quite a bit these next 3 days. I will be cognizant of calories however, I admit that if something looks really delicious I just have it! This attitude often results in gains.

My weekend with my daughter, sister, granddaughter and grandson was a lot of fun. We did some thrift shopping, dinner theatre, Escape room, pop up brunch, Skip the Dishes (very exciting when we aren't used to any home delivery!), went to an Indie craft show where my husband's cousin's daughter was a vendor, Farmer's market and I even, for the first time in my life, played poker at a casino. I don't even play poker at home - last time I played was more than 35 years ago! My daughter explained the rules to me as we were driving and a little of what to expect. She hasn't played poker tournaments much either - this was her third time. It was a ladies' tournament. I managed to stay in the game for 3 hours! I even beat my daughter! Although he was the one who suggested poker, my son was totally impressed that I played at all much less stayed in for that long. He plays tournaments much more often.

I am checking in early. I am on my way to Edmonton this morning. I am down 0.2 pound this morning. I have ranged upward to 1.8 pounds and this morning is the lowest weight this week. I had one very high calorie day and the rest have been on the top end of my 'zone'.

There is definitely going to be some challenges ahead. It is a girls weekend with a dinner theatre and a special brunch planned. My daughter, sister, granddaughter and I are doing a fun-filled weekend including the above plus an Art Battle (never seen this before however one of the participants is a girl we know) and an Escape Room. We have a large Air BnB that will hold the entire group.

I foresee that eating is going to be hard to plan for and may have difficult choices where either there are no real good choices or I don't want to make a particularly good choice! We'll see. My strategy is to eat wisely as much of the day as possible and then relax a bit if there are special things on offer. Likely will be clocking in a gain next week. I will be working to keep the gain modest.

Last weekend I had a girlfriend come stay while her daughter was visiting my daughter and another childhood friend. Pat and I got to do yoga lead by my sister, went out for lunch, toured the Art Hub, worked at my father in law's and then spent a couple of hours at my daughter's place visiting with the girls. It was nice. I have attended to personal care this week - feet and leg massage (painful but effective), haircut, and electrolysis. I went swimming one morning and met my daughter for breakfast afterwards. I subbed one afternoon. And spent two days at my father in law's.
