This has been a crazy couple of weeks. I haven't checked in for two weeks. Last week I was at 206.0 but was literally running out the door to get to the garage sale we did. This week I am a bit less than that as of last Wednesday at 205.2. Today is Saturday and I don't know what the scale is at as I have been in the city since Thursday morning. I suspect I am up just by the difficulty of figuring out what I have eaten since it is mostly restaurant food plus I tend to indulge in interesting food when I am in the city which often means higher calorie foods.

Two weeks ago I was at an evening meeting and the next morning went to High Level with my son for a three day (all restaurant food) economic conference. We got home late but in time for a blanket exercise my sister was presenting - it was my son's first one. The next morning I was in town to attend to some accountant meetings (3), and be interviewed by the radio station. The weekend was a successful but exhausting garage sale. We had a full house of around 20-30 people in a constant stream. Last week I helped my granddaughter report a fender bender and prepared book work for meetings for later that week, then it was meetings, accepting a large donation doing the picture piece for their media release and Jive dancing. Then swimming, more meetings, and running a portion of a zoom meeting for Alberta Health Services. Packing and driving 6 hours to the city. Yesterday was City chores and today I am in a yoga and meditation retreat. So weight and food choices have been definitely iffy!

I anticipate back to normal next Saturday with a 'real' weigh in.

I gained 2.6 this week. Looking at my records for the week I could have expected a 0.5 to 1.0 pound gain. I am taken aback by the size of the gain. I ran about 35 calories too much per day. The error is likely in how I recorded my calories although looking over the week the areas where I ate extra was around plain yogurt, dates, toast and honey. Other than dates not super dense calorie choices. I was in town one day and on that day I didn't go to town until after lunch and ate supper at home! It does feel like I have been ripped off!

This upcoming week is going to be problematic on the weight front. Tonight I am hosting a Euchre party for my family. This is in commemoration of my husband and his dad - both gone and both with March birthdays. Euchre is something they both loved. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday I am traveling with my son to a conference to a town I haven't visited in 30 years. I truly have no idea what is for restaurants and whether the conference is hosting all some or most meals. Then next weekend we are having a huge garage sale for both days. Eating may not go well next week. I will be vigilant and aware of my choices. Not sure what else I can do!

Last week I took my first dance lesson ever! I am learning jive. It was fun although I was the only totally newbie there. Everyone else had taken lessons before- some as many as 6 times! Apparently I need to work on how to spin on one foot using only my shoulder for momentum. I hired a band yesterday! It is a band of people I have known for many years. They will play at Summershine on July 6 which is a weekend party, roast pig and games competition in honour of my 65th birthday!

I haven't had time to enter for last week. When the dust cleared I was exactly what I was when I started. I had one fairly 'high' day and the rest were reasonable. In the end my average calories were about 25 calories above my intended high end.

The big news was that our Women Shelter got government help for the black mold renovations. They are covering nearly all that we need. $400 000.00! What a giant relief. I have a feeling the media really helped us on this one. They didn't want to look bad!

I subbed three days last week. That meant I ate quite a few meals away from home. I packed lunches this time and that was a good plan!

On Friday my girlfriend came the 2.5 hours away to help me at my father in law's. She stayed until Sunday morning. We put in about 12 hours total. We now have everything set out and priced. This meant eating out a number of meals as we were to exhausted to cook. It has been nearly a year and many sales later. I am hoping to have this part totally wrapped up by the end of April. Wish me luck. It has been a long road!

Putting things in perspective - I gained 0.2 pounds this week. Seldom am I at such a loss as to explain what happened this past week.

The first 3 days I was losing well. Then I gained and kept gaining for the next three days. This morning was a significant drop. From my highest amount of calories this week to my lowest was about 150 calories. Not a very large spread. I averaged at my low end of my 'window' This pattern should have resulted in a 1 to 2 pound loss this week. It has in the past. When I kept gaining, the calorie intake did not suggest I should. I am truly baffled by this past week. If I look at exercise (which I seldom factor in as a weight loss indicator) this past week I averaged 45 minutes a day up a little bit from the last two weeks of 40 and 43 min/day. I would say it has nothing to do with this week's experience.

My plan for next week is to go forward as per normal and see what happens. However next week is not going to be particularly 'normal'. I am subbing all day Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. At the moment it looks like I am in town Wednesday as well. I need to think about how I am dealing with breakfast and lunch for those days.

This past week was relatively quiet as I was home attending to various chores most days. One town day where I left the house at 6am and got home at 8pm. Friday I proctored apprenticeship exams. It was a lot of fun because I got to read an entire 120 question exam to a young man. It was an early morning leaving at 6:30 am but I was home by 3pm.

Tonight I am going dancing!! There is a band coming into town that I am hopeful is a good Blues band. The dance is a 45 minute drive away but it will be worth it.

This was quite a week weight-wise. At one point I was up 2.6 pounds and at another I was down 0.6 pounds. Spent most of the week above last week's weigh-in. That means that this morning's weigh in at 0.2 down feels good. I really was expecting to have to log in a gain this week.

Calories this week averaged 1252 which is 40 calories above my upper limit. This quite often translates into a gain. Much of the high eating moments came in the evening which has been a weak spot in the past. I was in town 4 days this past week however I was able to do some of the town days after lunch and home before supper which makes a huge difference. One day was two meals in town. Two days were one meal in town.

Next week I have two days where it will be all three meals in town. That will be problematic. I will have to be very careful how I deal with meal time.

Generally I had a productive week. I had a general meeting of Restorative Justice, helped my daughter deal with some forms that were mentally distressing for her, met with two different groups around the Women Shelter's financial needs (business and a politician), subbed at the school, worked at my father in law's house and got two businesses ready for submitting records to the accountant. Those are just the highlights!
