Yesterday wasn't my best eating day. I went back today and tried to record everything so I could adjust calories for the next few days. If I'm accurate, then I didn't do too badly, actually. I avoided the cake and a lot of the chips. I think I had some bites and tastes of things that came in for the cookout that I don't know how to record. Definitely over my calories, though, and will need to buckle down and get some extra exercise the next few days. I'm getting sick, though, and I worry how that will affect my ability to exercise. I've got a sore throat, which is really odd for July.

My calories may not have been so bad if I hadn't had the three alcoholic beverages. I did get a run in yesterday, so that's helpful!

I'm going to try to avoid the drinks for the rest of the week, I don't have any social obligations coming up, and work on getting my water in, which I did really well the first week and not so well the second. I really want to get that 4.4 pounds this week and I know I have to stick to that 1200 calories like glue to do it.

I lost 2.2 pounds this week, which I am very happy about. Even with my slip ups, that's a good loss and I'll take it. I think trying to stick to such a strict diet will allow me a few slip ups.

Today is the 4th of July, and I foresee a hot dog and a margarita in my future. I'm not going to be crazy strict today, but Tuesday through Friday I will, because we will have out of town guests. Out of town guests, who are naturally thin and eat whatever they want. (Bastards.) I kid, I love them. But it makes it hard to stick to a diet around them.

So my goal is to eat below my RDI on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, before they get here, so I have a few extra calories to play with when they are here. Hopefully that works ok.

I would love to lose 4.4 pounds this week, thus reaching my #1 goal of losing 11.6 pounds, thus pushing me into the 170's.

I've decided my reward for reaching the first goal is going to be a manicure and a pedicure.

Yesterday wasn't a great day, but today I'm hopeful I can eat fewer calories to make up for the slip up. I did already get in a 3 mile run and then walked the dog, so I'm off to a good start.

One of my downfalls of yesterday was that I didn't plan my day. I had been planning my meals each day in the morning while I drink my coffee. That way, I know what I'm eating, I know when I'm eating, and I'm on track. Yesterday I didn't do that, was stumped and hungry at lunch, and ate off the schedule because I wasn't prepared.

Dieting isn't about will power. It's about preparation.

Tomorrow is the 4th of July. It's also weigh in day. I'm hoping for a decent loss and then I'm going to celebrate with a margarita or a summer shandy.

Today my meals are planned completely, including the beer I want to have at dinner. I hope that makes for a more successful day.
