I may have cracked a tooth on the other side of my mouth from eating sugar-free hard candy mints. I was trying to get the bad taste of Novocaine out of my mouth from having a tooth extracted. Also, hoping the Sorbitol in them would counteract the constipation from the Codeine I was on for the tooth pain.

So eating the candy for the constipation/bad taste may have cracked a tooth on the other side. How ironic. This is why Mothers say "don't eat hard candy". I inherited the crappiest teeth on the planet. I never eat hard candy. I guess this is why.

My dentist doesn't know if it's really cracked. I just know it hurts when I put pressure on it (eating). Only a specialist can tell me. I'm too shell shocked to deal with this right now after having just had a tooth on the other side extracted. A second opinion next week will reveal more. In the meantime, I'm eating mushy food and trying to just get back to some sense of normalcy.

Pray to whatever deity you believe in on my behalf, would you please? I need all the help I can get. And if you must have hard candy, sugar free, or otherwise, don't chop them! Let them dissolve gradually! Please!! You'll thank me later.

I had to have a tooth extracted Saturday and while my mouth feels fine, my upper body is in agony. I was "clenched" with my arms tucked in closely to my body for about 2 hours. The sound of the drill, the smell of my own tooth in the air, the sound of teeth breaking, the tugging with the pliers...I don't care how much Novocaine they use, there is a level of stress associated with dentistry that I can barely articulate. If I had it to do again, I'd opt for being knocked out cold.

Sunday was the worst, yesterday was a little better, but I may have overdone it having gone to the grocery store late in the day when the drugs were at their peak (didn't drive), because today is a little worse again. I have to really take it easy and recover properly.

Keeping carbs low, calories low, but activity is also low, plus constipation set in after the codeine started Sunday. I don't need any constipation remedies, however. I know them all, and I'm choosing to let this bout ease up as I ease off of the drug. I'm not eating high volume, so it's not uncomfortable, but it is effecting my weight.

So the codeine is actually for my body soreness, not my mouth. I can barely move my right arm, and I can't drive because I can't move my neck from side to side. I expect an improvement by tomorrow. Heading into the Jacuzzi now. Lucky for me, I have a light week in terms of business lunches, mixers, etc.

For those in the U.S., I hope everyone has a great holiday. Thanks to our Vets who served our country.
