tahoebrun's Journal, 16 Mar 18

Good afternoon everyone. I am getting a really late start to journaling today. Back to back meetings this morning - the up side is I did get a cup of coffee in. So - I got a call from my doctor today and my latest HbA1c test came back at a 5.8! they want me to go down to 1 shot of insulin a day. I am stunned - this page and tracking my food has latterly saving my life. Diabetes is getting its ass kicked thanks to diet and exercise. I am totally stoked. I hope everyone has a great day working their plans.

Wonderful news! Congrats. I'm working on kicking some diabetic butt as well. My last A1C was 10.4. I have an appointment in May that I am going to ROCK with a new, low A1C.

Nidoqueen - good luck - it can be done if you work at it - I mean if I can get there...you can too.

If possible, and weather permitting where you folks live, try to go out for a 30 minute walk soon after you eat. That walk will further help utilize the carbs you eat. Take your kids with you— good habits are formed while young. You maybe giving them the greatest gift of all—- lessening their own chances of developing this disease.

@Miraculum and Nidoqueen it’s doable! You’ve been there Miraculum, it’s all in what you chose to eat. Even if you eat some carbs you can sliw the absorption by adding a protein to the mix when eating it or a fat and the more complex the carb or the higher in fiber the less it seems to impact the bottom line of your blood sugar, at least for me, and it worked that way for my husband as well. 🤷🏻‍♀️Nidoqueen, there are many success stories here on FS! Good luck! 🙋🏻
