abbadabba's Journal, 17 Oct 16

So, I have decided that I need to ask a question when a person asks me how I am managing to lose weight. One that runs through my mind is "Are you looking to lose weight?" but that always has to be followed up by "What have you been doing so far to get there?" Maybe I should just start saying "I eat whatever I want, whenever I want, and drink every night, and basically live on chips and onion dip"

Or the other comment: Well, after the water weight loss, maybe you'll get into a good program. Huh? I drink 90 ounces of liquid a day, bee-atch! That 2 pound loss ain't water weight!

If one more person says "you can't live on 1200 calories a day" I might have to slap them. Which could end badly for me, cuz I am not a good fighter and I am sure no one would put up with being slapped without me getting slapped in return. HaHa!

Let me tell you: I eat really well. I feel great. I am losing weight as well.

One of my friends who said this was told that a grown woman needs 1500 calories a day to maintain their health. Well, we are in totally different places this friend and I - first, she has blood cancer, which is incurable but will take 10 years or so to kill her, so she really needs to maintain her health in a big way. Second, she is about 100 pounds overweight and does no exercise at all. Like, she goes from her apartment to her car as her major form of movement in a day. Ok that's one.

A coworker said this to me, and well, you know, she is 6 inches shorter and about 50 pounds overweight, with a 6-month-old baby so it's "baby weight" but she was fat before she got pregnant so her judgement about what to eat is messed up already.

And, you know what, I hired a trainer, not really knowing too much about him except that he was a friend of a friend and is in phenomenal shape himself. Turns out he owns a gym. Has trained well-known professional athletes. Trains the trainers at his gym himself. Has a nutritionist at the club as well. I have lost almost 23 pounds since 4th of July. So I think he has given me a great plan to follow and to heck with everyone else.

I just have to remind myself: people are ready when they are ready and I don't need to answer any questions that I don't want to. Hence, fatSECRET because not everyone wants or needs to know how to lose weight!

Thank you for letting me vent.

Happy Monday, all, and Have a great FS day!

When this happens to me, I just do my best Chris Farley and yell "I'M STARVING!!!!" followed up with a "Mommy want wingy." And when I'm pushed to visit my PCP because I can't possibly be healthy, I reassure them that I'll visit in 10 more lbs.

I LOVED this! Thank you for posting. I've heard "it's water weight" so many freaking times it makes me sick. Yeah, I know all 65 lbs have been water weight. LOL
