Darn it anyway, but LCHF works! After 2 weeks of chasing the same 4 pounds, I am making consistent progress with LCHF.

Tomorrow, I start fasting 5 days. The fifth day is the new moon. That should plant me firmly in the 220s. The five days are all work days, but I should be alright. The only trouble I see is decompressing after work, which usually involves eating. Will focus more on emotional and spiritual health this time around.

I am diabetic and my numbers started to slide while I gained weight---but was NOT eating differently from before Went to a diabetes and weight loss clinic where I was re-evaluated for all medications and put on Ketogenic (Paleo type) diet Am lozing at about 2-2.5 lbs per week...so far 30 + pounds since mid-may. My diabetic numbers are down near 100 from up near 220. I feel better and I'm not fasting or going hungry. Basic rules are: All the fats, oils, meats, and almost all veggies..(no corn, no limas or beans, no beets). Carrots are OK. I eat salad with meat and a good dressing....also fish, poultry and beef or lamb...all OK. Small portions, lots of veggies...olives, avocado and gravies or sauces all ok. Not much dairy and a limit of 30 carbs per day...so 1/4 cup of milk counted as carb or.....all the whip cream or sour cream you'd want but NO sugar, no noodle, rice, etc. Costco wraps that are lo-carb are OK but no bread...and only 1 wrap per day (12 carbs)....so you just don't go over 30 daily carbs. So far it is safe and healthy. My clothes are swimming on me!

Erika, can't you delegate some of that labor to the people in rehab? Those numbers were my experience from multiple bouts with pneumonia. I am not as fit as you due to your outdoors experience. It could be you are stronger, but you have to listen to your body. @Iwakuni, see if you can skip the noon meal and just eat supper. If you can, you should be able to get through a day with just coffee, tea, mineral water, water. I go to bed at night and in the morning, drink my coffee. If fasting, I drink ice water all day until I go to bed. The next morning, I eat. There are hunger pangs, but I actually think fasting is easier than portion control.

Allison, where do you live to find such a forward thinking clinic? In Minneapolis, we are still killing our diabetics with low fat diets, white bread, artificial sweeteners, and mashed potatoes and rice.
