Yikes!!! Who turned on the deep freeze??? LOL!!

Actually, it's certainly not a "freeze" by any stretch of the imagination, but going from over 80 degrees yesterday to 53 degrees this morning when I got up is a major shock to the system! And, of course, DH opened a bedroom window about 5AM and put a fan in it, blowing all that cold air inside.

So, when I got up, I still put on shorts for my walk, but really bundled up my core, even wearing an earband and gloves, as it was really windy. Sunny, but windy.

Dogs and I walked 3.1 miles down the lake route - a first for them. They were just so-o-o happy with the cooler weather and a walk down unfamiliar areas, with all their unfamiliar sights and scents. They loved it! Yesterday, even though it was warmer, they were also pretty happy going the full 3.1 miles and then being allowed to hop in the pool to cool off.

Scored the fleece jacket yesterday! It's a brand name, but still doesn't seem quite as nice as my vintage, genuine Polartec jacket, but we'll see how it holds up. Love the color which I'd say is a bright teal. Also picked up some lighter, solid color turtleneck sweaters, in 100% cotton - Yay! - to wear everyday. And, I found a funky furry-looking vest that I just couldn't resist. I'm generally pretty traditional, but I do have an inner fashionista! LOL!

Anyone ever shop at Bass Pro Shops? I went there for the first time, just to see what they had in fleece. What's up with the lack of lighting??? Is it just this one store or are they all like that? I don't care if they carry the best of whatever, if I can't see it, I'm not buying it!! I couldn't even tell what color certain things were and I'm sure they'd look entirely different in real light. I've truly never seen such poor lighting in a store; it was like trying to see something in the entrance to a cave.

Except for getting home later, so dinner was later, it was an enjoyable outing. I've begun to take a small cooler with me on these trips that keep me from home for over an hour or two. I can take some drinks, which keeps me from buying over-priced ones, and I can also take along a cheese stick, like yesterday, or an Atkins bar. It really does help to keep me from getting ravenous by the next mealtime.

Bren, your picture is just about perfect! Except I don't own any knee socks, wow, what a sight that would have been! I'm still wearing the no-shows, but will soon move on to the slouchy, ankle type socks.

Glad you got your fleece even though it is not like old faithful. You'll be needed a smaller size next season anyway. I haven't been in a Bass Pro Shop for years but cannot remember ever having a problem seeing - they may have tried some more environmentally friendly lighting?

LOL...you are bundling up, he's opening up the windows! How is it that men & women are wired so differently for temperature like that? It does bring a cute picture to mind, all that bundling up with shorts...wait a minute...I see that everyday. It is cold & windy here too & actually feels & looks like snow weather, anyway, on my way to work this high school aged looking young man was riding a bike wearing shorts & short sleeves, no hat, no gloves, but boy was his face red! Good thing you found your fleece yesterday, I guess you need it today! BTW, I have never been to a Bass Proshop store! PS, wool socks are really warm!! PPS, I usually take a cooler too...same reason!

I was just impressed that you jump out of bed and put on your shorts to go for a walk! I have to have my two cups of coffee and my morning quiet time before I am ready to face anything like fresh air!

Buffy, that lighting looks like "environmentally friendly" gone very, very wrong! :)

GG, that kid sounds just like the kids we used to see when we lived in Montana...never saw that in Wisconsin, though, even though the weather's similar.

F8thful, I wouldn't exactly say I "jump" out of bed - LOL!!! But I do manage to start the process to getting out there for a walk right away. If I wait for too long, it's to easy to come up with excuses to not do it. My DH is more like you, however....gotta get that coffee and some ease-into-the-day time!
