_bec_ca's Journal, 05 Apr 24

Hello. Here's a bit of a follow up to the crazy time. So, along with the breast cancer return and surgery, Joe had a very scary episode 3 days after I had returned from the hospital. Early morning he is getting up to use restroom and I hear a bang. We are at my sister's and sleeping in different rooms. Anyway, I am slowing trying to get out of bed and my sister comes from her room and we hear a second bang. We get to Joe's room and he's on the floor, out cold. He comes to, is a bit out of it, but we manage to keep him sitting on the floor while my sister calls 911. All this time I am fighting with him, because he wants to get up and use the restroom. He then has a seizure. I was so scared. Paramedics took him and he spent the day in ER. All the tests showed he was healthy and they said he passed out because of dehydration. A few weeks later he saw a neurologist, took a few more tests and all came back clear.
To add to the medical situation, our daughter in law, who was pregnant with an already high risk pregnancy was hospitalized right before Christmas, released after a week and back in the hospital for 6 weeks on the same day of my surgery. Our grandson, Jody, was born 6 weeks early and is now almost 2 months old and doing great, as is his Mama.
Glad to be home and that everyone is doing well. 🩷

Thank you Diana and Wifey. 🩷 We had a lot of support throughout this time. There is one family member that decided to act out in a very selfish way during this time and for me that has been the hardest to deal with. I knew as I came into this medical situation, I had some life lessons to learn and the emotional lessons are the most challenging. Focusing on my well-being does involve patience and practice, which is why I decided to take the rest of this year to do exactly that and replace old unuseful habits with new ones that serve my well-being in every aspect. 🩷

Thank you, Nana9. 🩷 I was joking that once I got home, I was going to take up weight lifting, so that if my husband ever had another seizure, I could handle him! 😄

Wow, you have a lot going on. How sweet in the middle of all of this you have a new baby to focus your love and attention on. I wish the best for you and your treatments!

This is such a great reminder for me to always be thinking about humility and kindness for others. You simply cannot tell what others are going through. I will pray to God that he gives you strength.

Wow! I thought I was going through a lot, but it is never as much or as bad as what someone else is going through. It is a blessing that you and your family are doing well! including the new addition!

Thank you everyone. 🩷 The return of the cancer and surgery wasn't that bad. Fortunately, my surgeon was still on practice and he is the best! He was my doctor 23 years ago, when I first had breast cancer, so I felt very secure and at peace with him. My daughter in law's situation and of course my husband Joe's episode really stressed my out, but isn't that how it usually goes? We stayed with my sister for 4 months and she made everything so comfortable. I am so blessed to have her for my sister. Of course Joe is a gem and took such good care of me. When he stopped seizing and we were waiting for the paramedics, he said he just wanted some attention too. 😄

Morticia, amongst the chaos, there are always blessings to be found. ❤️ Not trying to sound corny, it's just that my mother taught us this outlook, while growing up in an unpredictable household (alcoholic father). My mother taught us how to hope in tomorrow, no matter how bad today was. This was the first time I had to go through a tough situation without her. She passed away 4 years ago and even though I am 63 years old, I am still learning how to do this without her. ❤️
