Hubby is supposed to walk after he eats. I would not do vigorous exercise.

You need fuel for your workout depending on what you’re doing and then after it’s good to eat too! Of course be mindful of what you eat. It’s nice to workout fasting too so I don’t think there’s really a right or wrong answer. Just can’t be eating a spaghetti dinner and workout out right away lol.

The best research I can find on this (I had the same question) is that your body needs a certain amount of nutrients for a good, productive workout. Particularly, you need some protein in your system to begin immediate muscle repair. Also, some carbs can really help fuel exercise. But you don't want to be really full. Just not hungry. Then, following your workout, load up on protein so your body has building blocks for muscle development. How I do it is I have a light pre-breakfast about 1-2 hours before a workout (a banana and Greek yogurt are my go-to), and then have my full breakfast afterwards. I go for eggs and bacon, because it's loaded with protein and very filling. Just be sure to track all the calories. And my main struggle is keeping enough protein in my diet. Unless I'm intentional, I can't get more than about 18%. I need 100-150 g per day for my specific goals (rebuilding muscle post-menopause without weight gain).

For myself I prefer empty . Especially for cardio. But afterwards I make sure to get my protein intake right away for rebuilding muscle.

Walking after eating is good , And Perhaps a so called “ Pre-workout “ Protein would be good . It’s light and not Belly full foods.

I would suggest eating a light meal or snack shortly before working out. Carbs are good short term energy so it would be smart to include them. Better long term energy is fats and proteins

For me I do both, it’s just a matter of preference. There is no wrong or right on your question I believe.

Empty stomach but protein shake before or during it

Empty stomach, or at least wait an hour after you eat.

I do both. I walk 2 to 3 MI in the morning first thing before breakfast. I also ride my bike 10 to 12 miles in the afternoon when I get home from work so I've already eaten lunch but it is before dinner. want to squeak

I usually eat about an hour or more beforehand and ensure I have some quick burning carbs to give me extra energy. But if I eat right before a workout, I feel sick.

If you want to feel quite sick, eat a hot dog a half hour before your workout. It'll be the only time you do that, I am pretty sure.

Depends on goals, that will determine your type of workout and that will determine which is better…. Fasted or not

I fast in the morning until I eat lunch around 10:30. Exercising in the morning means my body uses fat for fuel since there's nothing else in my bloodstream to use for fuel, right? So I think exercise is best when you haven't eaten in awhile. I used to have low blood sugar issues, but since I've been doing this 'fasting until 10 or 10:30' thing along with eating balanced carbs, I've not had that shaky weak feeling.

Supergainz1 completely agree with your comment.

I always work out on an empty stomach, your body will use the your fat for fuel, and you end up burning more calories all day long. 👍

Figure out what works for you and never look back.

I don’t eat heavy before exercise but sometimes have a light snack with protein if I haven’t eaten in several hours. If I end up eating heavy then I wait an hour to exercise or my stomach doesn’t feel good. Also I don’t do well with heavy exercise first thing in the morning if I don’t eat something first. I would say listen to your body. Everyone is different.

whatever fits your schedule and keeps you at your calorie goals. some people have issues working out after a big meal. personally I almost always eat a big meal before I work out and never have an issue but thats just what my schedule dictates.
