Asarver's Journal, 21 Feb 24

Not feeling great. I had my race this past weekend and didn't get what I wanted. At about mile 6 I knew I wasn't going to meet my goal and it made the rest of the race really hard to finish. It was hillier than I remember, but I think I'm disappointed mostly because I don't understand how I did so well in Nov but this one blew up. I definitely gave what I had, or tried. The last 3 miles were so hard because my legs wouldn't move any faster. My left hammy is still sore so I haven't had the motivation to do anything, even swim.

It'll pass eventually, but I'm just kind of bummed and work stress isn't helping. Hopefully I can make myself get out and do something in the next few days.

I have started recording my food again. I'm sure the extra 15 pounds doesn't make racing any easier so getting back in my comfort weight range will feel great.

I think you answered your own question on why you might not have done as well. This was a great journal to reflect on. You had an injury, you gained 15 and you weren't keeping track. None the less, YOU FINISHED and you did it! Much more than I could do. Now, maybe reflect on all the things that went well. You'll do better next time!!! 🏆

In spite of everything, you completed the race, and that says a lot. Well done. I think you know why you didn't do as well this time and I'm betting you'll make sure next time is more successful. 💜💛💚
