wholefoodnut's Journal, 20 Oct 15

I had not done much for workouts lately due to a pulled muscle in my mid back. I've been doing bits and pieces of my workouts and lots of stretching to try to work it out. I made it through most of my 30 minute TRX full body workout tonight. The planks did me in again though not too badly.

Managed to get my fruit and veggie servings in for the day but was bad-- bought some ice cream and ate it while listening to the Royal's playoff game. Still within my calories as now I do not feel like dinner. I haven't had any real ice cream in a long time. No guilt it just works in.

Pepper, new puppy is doing pretty well. Lot's more to go on potty training, learning her name, and basic things like come. LOL Crate training is a learning experience for me as well. I have trouble penning her up after work as she has been stuck in a small bathroom all day. She played with chew toys while I did my workout but decided stretches on the floor meant jump on me for cuddles.

Long days at work as we are doing some overtime most everyday and often working through lunches. I need to get back to daily exercise as stress relief as well as strengthening.

You are in a good maintenance process - ice cream once in the while seems good!

So sorry for your pulled muscle. Has to be painful. Hope it gets better soon! You will get your exercise in one way or the other. Good for you! Ice Cream isn't bad if you can work it into your RDI for the day. I say a win for you. Love the puppy update! Thanks for sharing.

Kattay, I think I overdid as 2 workouts most days then lifting heavy stuff cleaning the garage. Instead of giving it a rest I kept working out everyday. Just aggravating not too bad but it was increasing not decreasing, so time for a break.

This is only temporary and you'll be moving around a whole lot more very soon. And didn't you know ice cream heals everything. ;) That's why I made chocolate chip cookies last night and had a glass of milk. Lol. We all need cheat day's and I'm sure you won't have a gain when you weigh in.

Grins, I don't actually do cheat days if I eat some goodies it just gets adjusted into my calories for a few days. I love ice cream and every now and then I will get some, usually when I have kids here as they will eat most of it. No kids here at the moment. Homemade chocolate cookies yum. Would love to go back to sleep instead of to work this morning.

Sneica, the 2 pups together are a riot. So funny.

You probably burned off the icecream calories when you cleaned out the garage, anyway. Feel for you on the strained muscle. Can you do yoga or Pilates while it heals?

Hope you get in lots of recuperation time this weekend for both your back muscle and your heavy workload of late!

The back is doing well unless I sit too long driving 6.5 hours today was not the best on it. At least it was split into there and then back. Pepper and 2 yo Jazzy are a riot. Just potty training is a pain, but I knew that getting into a new pup. I decided to get a pup sooner than planned because I will be working on refinishing my wood floors as I tackle the next room's re-do. MMMMM thought do puppy potty training then floors. Vet appt on Wed I plan to ask if he thinks she may be a doxel. A cross between a beagle and a daschaund. She came from a puppy mill/hoarding rescue and that is one of the "designer" breeds. He suggested both when I took her in with Jazz for her annual checkup.

Perhaps the fact you had to stand to watch GDs game was a blessing, then (for your back)? Glad your new leggings kept you warm . . . Beagles are the SWEETEST breed and love to snuggle -- I've always wondered about Jake's 'heritage' (definitely some German Shepherd, but beyond that(?) . . . I've considered looking into those blood/DNA tests that you can send off to a lab for an 'origin' analysis.

Leigh, standing, stomping to the cheers, and clapping definitely helped keep warm and added some exercise for the day, and kept the back moving. The stadium had reasonably comfy seats rather than normal bleachers, more like a pro stadium. Probably wouldn't do the dna test, interesting though. I have a soft spot for mutts, they snuggle in, play, and I take them home. I have a friend who volunteers in a small shelter, she has suggested that I do as well. I would bring them all home LOL. Course my pureblood lab and designer pup did the same. I liked Pepper's and Jazzy's personalities. Jazzy is a Boston Terrier and who knows what?? probably dad was a mutt. Vet will not even speculate. The mystery is an interesting puzzle. ;) I grew up with German Shepherd's they are awesome dogs. I had a very sweet senior (vet estimated at least 15) beagle who lived about a year. She had a good home that year. We found her roaming in the middle of a 4 lane highway and no one claimed her in the surrounding small towns. We posted photos in all the local stores etc. and knocked on many doors. DD and I stopped and she hopped in the car, curled up on DD's lap terrified.
