CARBONAUT BREAD IS A NO-NO FOR ME PERSONALLY

Remember a few weeks back with my incident with Carbonaut bread?

Yesterday I tried 1 piece - not the 3 I had previously but 1 small slice. I toasted it, a bit of butter and a bit of peanut butter. And no, I don't react to peanut butter (had it earlier this past week on my Promise bread) and of course I use real butter so no reaction there either.

Results? Same damn reaction as I did when I ate 3 pieces. I went through pure hell yesterday and by 7pm I had to break down and take a pain pill. So, yup, no more Carbonaut bread for me. I threw out the 2/3 a loaf I had left.

But there is something in the Carbonaut Keto Gluten-Free White Bread that my body does not like. My body is reacting as bad to this as it does to wheat. Maybe it's the modified ingredients that are setting me off (Modified resistant tapioca starch and/or potato starch, Modified cellulose) or the High oleic sunflower oil (which is not in my diet). Not sure what Native cornstarch is either.

Here, look for yourself:

Carbonaut Bread ingredients: Modified resistant tapioca starch and/or potato starch, Water, High oleic sunflower oil, Psyllium, Inulin, Yeast, Modified cellulose, Native cornstarch, Rice bran, Xanthan gum, Pea protein and/or fava bean protein, Salt, Natural flavour

Compared to Promise GF:

Water • Rice flour • Tapioca starch • Corn starch • Cellulose • Canola oil • Psyllium seed husk powder • Glycerol • Yeast • Powdered egg white • Potato starch • Quinoa • Sugars (sugar, prune puree) • Chia seed • Poppy seed • Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose • Salt • Wholegrain corn flour • Sodium propionate • White vinegar • Sodium carboxymethyl cellulose • Sorbic acid • Rice bran • Methyl cellulose • Sodium carbonate • Xanthan gum • Natural flavour • Folic acid • Thiamine. Contains: Egg.

Well it was worth the effort to try but I'm going back to my tried and trusted Promise GF Quinoa & Chia Loaf bread where my body shows no reaction to it. Besides, I usually only use it for my 1st meal of the day in the form of a sandwich.

I know a lot of the gums and prebiotic fibers can cause a lot of discomfort, digestion issues, etc. for many people. Perhaps it is one of those that you do not tolerate well? 🤷🏼‍♂️

Perhaps indeed. I'm just not willing to put my gut through anymore pain for that particular bread...lol
