Hi everyone,

Currently I am not weighing myself as I am sporting an AirCast and full leg brace due to multiple fractures in my right leg. I am not going to go into too much detail as there are legal stuff pending that I don't want to mess with, but long story short I was hit by a car moving backwards as I was crossing the street with my rollator. I have a right leg proximal fibular fracture + tibial plateau fracture as well as a possible broken ankle/foot.

I am still testing my fasting blood sugars and I am still mainly Carnivore for my diet. But it appears that it will be at least another 4 weeks or so (already 4 weeks in) before the cast/brace will be allowed to be taken off. Since I am not allowed to do any weight bearing on the right leg, I've had to learn how to transfer myself from chair to walker to bed or to commode. I'm developing muscles fast in my upper body to do this. The last time I weighed myself I had reached 213 lbs. Once I am fully healed from all of this, I will be doing my usual posting of weight & measurements.

But I hope all of you are having a blessed day day, week, month!

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!

Fasting Blood Sugar: 5.3 mol/L
Fasting Blood Sugar avg 30 days: 5.3 mmol/L
Weight loss, 31 days: 5 pounds
Inches lost, 31 days: 10 inches

I went into this 3-month Carnivore journey, breaking it down into one-month cycles , to see if:
1. I could actually do it and last the full 3 months/90 days
2. Was the hype true or not
3. Could I remain off my meds

I MADE IT!! lol
I survived & thrived the full 90-days of this journey!!
The hype is true (at the very least, personally true).
I have remained off my meds & in fact did not take any Cholestyramine during March.

So my 3-month Carnivore diet has accomplished the following:
21 pounds lost.
30.5 total inches lost.
Went from a size 22 pant to a size 16 pant and technically lost a bra size as well.
My IBS-D/BAM has settled down some but still a long road to go to be under control.
My diabetes daily fasting numbers are settling in nicely to the 4.9 to 5.5 mmol/L range. I used to be up in the 6-7 mmol/L range before the start of this journey.
And I have learned that I need to keep on my compression socks at all times except for bathing or doing laundry. If I don't wear them then my weight dramatically increases due to inflammation/edema and a good part of it is caused by my varicose veins. And I'm talking about a 20lb increase if not more just because of this.

Going Forward

I plan to continue my journey of doing Carnivore my way. I have started to introduce certain herbs/spices as I tend not to thrive without them. I need a flavour profile in my food. I have also changed my mayonnaise back to olive oil based but all home made; no store bought stuff. I did try the carnivore mayo's but my body reacted badly to the recipes I tried (IBS-D/BAM). I have also learned that there are some fatty meats and/or heavy fats I can't do. I also seem to have an issue with some dairy but not all. Heavy cream I can't do but 10% cream I can. I also make sure I am adding Lacteese drops into my cream box, although not officially diagnosed with lactose intolerance, it does help. This is a want & not a need for me to be able to drink my coffee and is something I won't give up. Certain cheeses I react to whereas others I don't.
But this is where I am at, having to try to balance the fat/protein ratio in regards to my IBS-D/BAM.
Eventually & further down the road I may introduce some veg's back into my diet and switch hit between carnivore and ketovore. But right now, as I am trying to heal my gut, I think it is better for me to stay on the Carnivore road with a few alterations.

And this leads me to my final thought this month. Each individual must take their own road accordingly. It's fine to read people's opinions and voice your own on this but, only you know your own body. And as long as you are listening and making adjustments to fit your needs, then no one can say you are doing it wrong. Just be honest with yourself!

Have a great day, week, month everyone!!

3/25/2024

First meal today consists of 2 cans NN Chunk Light Tuna (packed in water), scant 1/4 cup homemade mayonnaise & 1 tsp of homemade Spanish Onion powder & salt to taste.

Approximately 80 grams protein.

Now, I have tried making the various carnivore mayonnaise recipes out there but my body does not deal with it (IBS-D/BAM). So I've gone back to using extra light olive oil (the more expensive stuff too) to make my mayonnaise which my body tolerates more. It keeps me away from the seed oil (canola) and the other stuff they use to make the commercial stuff more palatable while allowing me to enjoy my tuna.

My son bought me a food dehydrator for Christmas 2023 of which I have been experimenting with and of course various types of onions are on the list. The flavour is exceptional when comparing it to the store bought onion powder. Same goes for a lot of stuff I've dehydrated.

Ultimately in the end, we decide what we put in our bodies & what we don't. And for me, this is a good meal.

Fasting Blood Sugar 5.1 mmol/L

I thought I'd better record this now before I forget again although I will make the attempt to do it on 3/31/2024 which is the final day of the 3 month period of being carnivore.

The biggest question is - will I stay carnivore or not?

And the biggest answer is a resounding YES!!

End of February I went & seen my Endocrinologist & confessed I had taken myself of my Diabetes meds (and my IBS-D/BAM meds but that is for another specialist) on 1/1/2024 to do the Carnivore diet. While not completely thrilled, he had see the results of my basic bloodwork and it spoke volumes from my last testing period. My glucose fasting, Vit. B12, Sodium, Potassium, Creatine Kinase, ALT, TSH all came back in the normal range. My A1C of course came back in as high but it was at 6.3% - so it is coming down.

The other one was my Creatinine - it came in low. But after the discussion with my Doctor, I've learned that the lab themselves refuse to take the low end number off their report as per the Endocrinologist society and in fact I have the kidneys of a 18 year old (his words, not mine). I have been consistently coming in at 46 umol/L. This made my heart leap for joy as my father had kidney issues in the last years of his life, due mainly to the LBD drugs he was taking for his Lewy Bodies Dementia.

I go see him in June of this year for my next round of bloodwork and on that one we will find out where my cholesterol levels are and if I've become a hyper responder or not.

Ultimately, the work I've been doing for me IS working. And I would not have looked or even tried this way of life if I had already been paying attention to Dr. Ken Berry on YouTube. His channel allowed me to explore certain health issues I have with documentation to back up what he says. And of course, I've done my own exploration/research which supports what he shares.

Yes, I had already done the Low Carb way of life, tried keto half heartedly & bounced around a lot. But I also have to be thankful because I had lost my initial 150 lbs trying to work within that lifestyle. And then I chose to go to the extreme of Carnivore.

Officially, I have now lost a combined total of 184.2 lbs. I'm 15 lbs away from my goal that I set on this app. I have a couple other weight loss numbers in my head but will wait to decide on those for a future day.

If I remember (we are talking about my crazy head now lol), I will be back on or about 3/31 to post final numbers for the initial 90 days (3 months) of going carnivore and what my goals are from there. I have learned that when I break down the 3 months into 1 month cycles, it works much better for me. And of course, I am recording my journey in a spreadsheet on my computer so I can have a "front and center" view.

Have a great day, week, month everyone!!
