p$m's Journal, 14 Aug 23

It's Monday FS fam! I can officially say I no longer am happy to come into the office/ work. With the new management, it's become a chore. So, I'm here with my office door closed and avoiding passive aggressive manager. The upside to this is I stay out of the office kitchen where the goodies are.

In the past, I've mentioned issues with my fingers due to climbing or over-climbing. I've decreased my days of climbing by one and taking 48hr to recover before climbing again but it seems the stiffness still present. Someone I spoke with over the weekend mentioned that gluten could be the cause. Can gluten really impact joints? I'm actually considering going gluten free but not sure how difficult it will be. Anyone know on a gluten free diet?

Oh and does anyone hula hoop? It looks like fun and is suppose to be a low impact work out. Also thinking about it.

p&m, sorry it wasn't informative. I sometimes wake up with a couple of my fingers bent and frozen and have to painfully, manually straighten them. I've always attributed it to old age (I'm 80) and not given it much thought, but your problem sounds much more serious. I hope you can find a doctor who can find a solution for you.

I say use the hula hoop if you are able. // I am not very physical naturally. A while back I did the hula hoop—it was fun, low impact, not that strenuous, and the weights in the hoops allowed uncoordinated me to be able to hula. (I couldn’t do it when I was a kid with the plastic hula hoops that had no weights.) Unfortunately for me, I discovered it was a wretched option due to unstable SI joint. I actually had to leave work due to pain. It would be a good option for me to test efficacy of radio frequency ablation and other lumbar treatments.

Of course, rock climbing (if that is what you are referring to) is going to provide a much more intensive work out than hula.

@shir no worries. It was informative that there is no medical link.

@bottom - yeah rock climbing but I do More gym climbing. I was looking at hula hooping for at home when I’m not at the gym. It looks like fun.
