I can relate to getting antsy sitting too long. I need a treadmill desk :)

That would be nice somedays. At least now the company supports us getting up and moving now and then, we used to get told not to. Then our health insurance started sending us emails at work to move more.

A couple people here have standing desks. I'm jealous. Luckily I'm also short so.. well.. I really don't need one. lol I can stand and work if I tilt my monitor. oooooh! Squat and work! Sure people will wonder what's wrong with you but it's something.

LOL!! People at work think I'm a little wierd as the oldest person in the entire area, encompassing several departments, and I work out and dont' eat a bunch of junk food like most of them do. I feel badly for many of them as they are the ages of my kids, doing anything physical including just walking hurts, they have health issues, and are headed for more problems unless they change their lifestyles.

What is weird is that our society has become wired to be the opposite of what we should be for our health's sake. I am terrible as i just stated in another post I don't know how to slow down and glad i am no longer a lump at my desk all the time.

I wish I had a standing desk too. My desk is supplied by the MOD :(. But although I am not the oldest I am the only one that goes for a walk at lunch time while all the others stuff their face. At least they they have stopped chuckling over the mountain of fruit on my desk :)

Pterath, I'm also good at not slowing down much, though every now and then the body says stop, I've learned I have to listen. Schmetterling, I do eat my lunch, only 30 min break and I need that food to get me through the day; however, it's not crap from the greasy spoon (and I mean greasy) next door like many here eat. They even email the entire floor the specials menu for the week from there. I bring mine. They have gotten used to me bringing homemade healthy stuff for food days not junk food. Love that they quit laughing at your fruit!!!!

It is not only better to bring your own food but long run you save $ and eat quality calories.

I work at a computer as well. I get a 5 min break every hour. One day I do weights in those 5, and the other I do calf raises (where you stand on your tip toes) 5 min a day for 3 days a week is 1.5 hours of dumbbells, and 1 hour of calf raises. Desk work is hard on a body!

No Johanne, Wyandotte county probably the fair grounds this Sat. Water Star, 5 min every hour would be awesome! We have one 15 min break, one 30 min lunch, and 10 minutes personal time to race to the bathroom, get drinks or whatever. We are timed everyday as we have to block incoming calls on our phones and the system times us. No one messes with me if my personal time goes over as my answer is I don't have a 30yo bladder..but a 66 yo one, it could be an age issue with HR. They know I do my job and don't mess around. I stopped in a liquidator store today and as always check their exercise section. Bought a 10# small preform kettle ball for $5.00. It's going to live on my desk to use when I get a chance. One thing we do is tech support on our web site, some of these people take forever doing things, a good time to multi task..mmm mini cube exercise.

You're making me think I should do something for my arms, and the rest of my body too, but all in good time. Legs are much stronger from the walking and step-ups already.

Heidi, especially work on your core, abs and back it will help your whole body. I feel better working my whole body today I did concentrate on abs because I've really pushed my legs and arms the past few days.

Okay, found some core exercises I think I can try to start with. Will do arms as well. Have to be careful with anything like that, as I'm prone to overdoing it!

Me too on the overdo. You will find the Sass challenge interesting lots of mini exercise challenges. Step ups would make a difference fairly quickly.

Fun2beme. I feel so much better than what the old me was 3 years ago. At a good weight and I've learned again that I need to exercise. Strength training has made a huge difference. Definitely add the cardio as well but the strength training and weight loss have sent the daily pain away.
