Wowzer I am struggling with my appetite lately! (Well always actually.) Had a very respectable amount of supper tonight (763 kcal) and feel like I could easily eat and enjoy that much again, without even feeling overly full! Does this *ever* change?

okay this situation is irritating right? I am trying to drink a full glass of water in the 10 minutes or so before dinner as one of those advised tricks that can increase the feeling of fullness. Presumably water before (and during) dinner also helps avoid dehydration, which can mimic a sense of hunger... I'm guessing slightly saltier foods also increase the need for H2O which the body might mistake for hunger. best of luck!!

Yeah - too much sodium is my worst constant problem. I just read on the NHS website tonight that it does indeed increase appetite, even more than it increases thirst. On more reason to keep battling that addictive habit.

I'm feeling like that too! I blame on letting my guard down during Christmas, eating a little too much at meal times, maybe too many "treats". I've literally plateaued for the last month, fingers crossed I can get back into the swing of things.

Try to focus not only on calories but on exactly what you are eating. Foods high in protien and good fat will likely keep you full longer where as meals with a large portion of carbs or sugar will leave you feeling hungry. Ive been trying to follow this and I can definetly say that eating a low carb high protien diet, especially in the morning, really keeps me full throughout the day and makes it easier to stick to my calorie limit.

I’ve learned to gradually get used to a feeling of maybe 75-80% full. It’s something I still struggle with because I really like feeling full.

I found that sometimes what our body is really asking for is water. When I drink water before each meal, there’s less tendency to feel hungry. At first, when cutting back on calories, I was constantly hungry for the first week, but regular water along with my body making the adjustment, soon alleviated that feeling

Ever since I increased my protein intake, cravings and feeling hungry all the time no longer happen. At the time I am aiming for 120 to 150 grams per day. For me it was like magic! There must have been 20 something years since I last felt this free from food and cravings
