I’ve heard that too! But I think you can still have small amounts. It must be carb heavy 🤷♀️

I was reading it online and Weight Watchers says to eat it. But the Keto diet has it on the no-no list
I’m overthinking this whole thing because the truth of the matter is, reducing calories and making better choices is what work out
I remember when I was eating whole bags of chips and never thought about bananas!!

Yes! And carrots because sugar but I never met anyone who gained lots of weight because of bananas/carrots. Moderation is key I guess but really, how many bananas/carrots can you eat in one day compared to say cupcakes?

If it fits in your macros and you want it, eat it. Bananas and carrots are healthy. I eat bananas daily and carrots multiple times a week. Fit them in when you want them!

Overipe Banannas are full of sugar. They say the green ones are better as the starch doesn't break down into sugar. I say everything in moderation. There are lots of berries and apples that are ok. Most veggies are good. Carrots do have a lot of sugar but radishes, celery, cucumbers, peppers are great!

Bananas are high on the glycemic chart, which is why they don't fit in on the menu of some diets. If you are following a specific diet like Keto, try to stick to it, as there is a certain science behind including and excluding certain foods. That said, I don't know anyone who has gotten fat eating bananas or carrots. I would advise you to see a doctor for a physical and get some labs done to check the condition of your organs and blood. They will be a far greater help in choosing what foods to avoid until you've dropped below a BMI of 25%.

I've heard this before about bananas. I eat them daily and would have to disagree with the claims. However, my total daily sugars are under 70g.

@Otb & Daddy: Yeah, and I ate 2 for breakfast. However, I'm also not trying to get into ketosis, which is why Keto and Atkins diets tell people to avoid bananas and other carbs scoring high on the Glycemic Table.

JustBananas I admit the whole keto diet still perplexes me but whatever works for someone to hit their individual goals and ias sustainable then I guess they should go for it.

I eat a whole banana 1 1/2 hours before workout. Gives me healthy energy and keeps me from feeling nauseous near the end when I have 10 minutes of Kettlebell, ropes or prowler.

Really just depends what diet you're on. I don't limit carbs and don't limit natural sugars, so bananas are just fine on my WOE. If you decide to limit carbs, they're a little tougher to work in. The advice you read might have been from someone who went low carb and thinks it's the diet for everyone. It's not. Ultimately, you have to find what works for you. Personally, I'm not giving up my bananas and carrots, because I'm a strong believer in fruits and veggies

@Kimlas: So there you have it. In this tiny sample of dieters on FS, all of the healthy & fit people eat bananas. However, our diets are full of whole foods, and we all cook at home regularly. And all of us exercise several times a week, if not daily.
