Need a sauna? Just step outside! At least a breeze is picking up ahead of the potentially stormy weather over the next few days.

Sunday was my day off from walking and yesterday, the dogs had a mid-AM vet appointment, so I did not walk then, either. Could have squeezed it in before the appointment, but didn't - although DH took them.

I did have Sunbutter both days, but it's now gone, so that's one temptation out of my way. On both days, I tried to alter my foods for dinner a bit to attempt to make up for it, even though it's an imperfect action. I KNOW that foods, like Sunbutter, just take up way too much in calories AND will bring my weight loss to a screeching halt.

So, today, I planned on walking the dogs and probably doing the lawn because of the off-and-on rain coming in this week. Got the dogs walked for 1.2 miles on the shadiest streets. Then, as we were coming home, I planned to take a sample to the vet's office and finish MY walking after that.

Well......Since I need to do more walking anyway, couldn't I just walk to the vet's office? It's not really that far, is it? Those were my thoughts. Sure, it would be in some sun, but I think there's some shade in parts...could I really do it?

I brought the doggies home and got them settled and decided to give it a try. After all, I had had 2 days off from walking, so I should be fully rested. So, I packed up the sample, and some change to get some water or soda if I needed it along the way. I took note of the time because this was obviously not a pre-measured distance for me.

On my way to the vet's office, I encountered a major hill. I knew it was there but it sure seems a lot steeper when you're looking at it as a walker as opposed to a driver! Who thought of this "walking to the vet" idea anyway???!! And, this is one of those hills that you actually encounter in both directions because the road dips down to cross a creek.

Just a wee bit over an hour later, I was back at home, after having walked to the vet's office and back!

Yes, I did stop at the vending machine at a car wash place to get some water, which I finished easily as I continued to walk home. Except for the traffic noise, hot exhaust and full sun, it wasn't bad at all. Sure, I was pretty wet by the time I finished, but going right on into the pool helped that (water temp is 86 degrees naturally these days).

So, based on time, the vet's office roundtrip mileage is 3.5 miles. Add to that the 1.2 I did with the dogs and today's mileage was 4.7 miles - and it was 90 degrees when I got home! That mileage should be a nice addition to the Fifty Miles in June challenge, as well.

We'll see how I hold up this afternoon when I do the lawn. I'm hoping the clouds increase, so I can do it under cloudier conditions.

And, yes, I'm pushing the water!

(Take that, you Metabolism....!!!)

We are having the sauna weather too! Except, no pool boy either to take a girls mind off how hot & sticky it is! I am glad you got your walking in, & can totally understand how daunting that hill must have seemed, but you didn't turn back, you did it! I am glad you had the pool to cool off in (still jealous of that BTS). I always admire your spirit of determination & dedication! Happy trails!!!

You are so committed! And a side effect - bet the dogs were in a much better frame of mind because of it.

Sandy - GREAT JOB!!! I just love when you talk yourself into something, then half way thru you think, can't turn around now, it's probably farther to go BACK then it is to go forward. But that's cause were naive, and forget we have to WALK back afterwards! LOL!!!

Bren, yes it was humid out. The nice effect of the humidity, however, is that it's spawning some rain tonight - at least the radar looks like it will make it here. Keeping our fingers crossed, as I don't even want to think of how high my water bill is this month! Have a good Wednesday.

Lisa, I would LOVE dry weather, as in low humidity! Happy vacation-time!

BuffyBear, I can always tell when the dogs have had a walk and when they haven't. It DOES make a difference in their activity and their attitude! You're not working too hard at work this week, now are you?

Paula, I really had to think about doing that walk, esp. when I didn't have a definite idea of how far it was. AND, I had to realize that I WAS stuck having to walk back, even if I were tired, because there was no one at home I could call to come pick me up! Hope your mom is all settled in again at home.

Thanks Dana. As "exciting" as this little adventure was, I doubt that I'll be making this same trip anytime soon. The loud drone of all the traffic and the heat and exhaust made about half the walk less than really enjoyable. Still, it's a source of pride for me just to know I COULD do it again if I wanted to. Thanks for stopping by and have a good evening.

Dar, I have no idea whatever possessed me into even thinking of walking to the vet's office and back. I never would have even considered that a year ago, much less more than a year ago. No hunky pool boy...all the regular maintenance is just me. Hope your weather improves for your family dinner tonight.
